For years I have been one of his biggest fans and have always supported him regardless of his performances, even in difficult times, especially in Porto when he has had a goal drought but in all honesty I have started to realize that his biggest weakness as a professional footballer is his mental permission.

That is always where it falls short. I mean if you look back in time, almost always those matches, moments in matches when you expect the star or the big player to come forward, he fails. I'm thinking of the Portugal match during the WC 2018, important matches in the League for Porto, for example against Benfica or Sporting, in the Champions League against Juventus (Red Card), last Asian Cup against China when he gets an unnecessary yellow card which causes him to be suspended in the semi-final against Japan, during the WC vs USA and now in this Asian Cup against Syria. Not to mention the match against Qatar where he could have scored on at least 2 occasions.

This is a confirmation that he usually makes wrong decisions in the most important moments of matches. That's the difference between big players and regular players. Great players make unexpected decisions, do things that ordinary players don't do in normal cases and that's what sets them apart.

All this means that you unfortunately cannot call him a superstar who can decide matches. So as much as I want to believe that he will succeed in a big European team such as Inter, I strongly doubt it. I hope I'm wrong.

You’re 100% right about him thinking he’s above the team. He thinks he doesn’t have to put the same effort in against Asian opposition because of his success with Porto. I had high hopes for Taremi in this tournament but he didn’t show up at all. I can’t believe he left us hanging in the game against Qatar of all games.

He has no love for Iran. Just compare him with Ali Daei in Gheyrat then watch his games with Porto from a year or two ago and see how he used to hustle and helped everyone to push forward and puts a lot into the game and compare it to when he wanted to leave Porto, then you'd know and will clearly see that he is not putting even his 50% and he thinks he is above everyone and has become ignorant. He just doesn't care. He got what he wanted from football so I am not sure if he ever play to his potential because he doesn't want it as much.

Webbie Jan, is this not your broken heart speaking?

I think Taremi gave it his all but he’s way too emotional for big games. Even if his face shows calm or indifference, internally he’s like a volcano.
he was poor this tournament but his goals allowed us to qualify for World Cup 2018 and 2022. You of all people know his talent and supported him from the start despite his haters.

He is being outperformed by Evanilson this season and looked useless at Asian level. Anyone who thinks he will jump ahead of Thuram is dreaming a little bit. I’m guessing one season on Inter bench and then a move to Saudi or something.

Ma oun moghe migoftim doostan shaki mishodan migoftan manfi mibafi!
              Begzarim!!
I agree with Kamran and also essi,
I highly doubt we ever see best of him at club level, and by joining Inter, he will not get much of playing time anyway!
As said before, he failed to deliver in crucial moments, he soon will be 32 but he yet doesn't have the maturity of the guy who played 4-5 years in Europe and has been 10 years with TM!
We counted on him many times and he disappointed us!
My only worry is now joining Inter we keep him around for another WC and AC just because he is in Inter squad, of course if he delivers will be another story!
He lost lots of his mobility and for a guy like him which never was pure scorer it is big minus!

Imho, we need to prepare Azmoun and his replacement from now! We all know even Sardar is an injury away from possible retirement
I am not saying to not inviting him but slowly in such a meaningless game like vs weaker teams lets introduce younger players and be patient with them.
Another thing is we wont most likely see another striker in next 5-10 yrs in his or Sardar caliber so lets keep expectations low!
One last thing is Taremi is not JB, he was never that the most mature guy, people some time forget not so long ago he was heavily criticized because of his decisions, acts on and off the field!

At least you know that I can see if someone is playing or not. I am willing to bet everything I have that something unnatural happened in the AC or Qatar would never win it. Taremi is not emotional. He is a calm player hence he got here. This was just a show. I am not convinced that he even played 20%.

Taremi has always been known for getting emotional & crying:
                  -After the Portugal WC2018 match
                  -After the Porto-Juventus match

Now, Syria & Japan game in the Asian Cup. I feel ever since the transfer fiasco last summer at Porto, he’s not playing with the same fire. More lackadaisical with the ball, overall playing with less urgency to prove something.

The quality is still there though—especially if you look at his 2nd goal against UAE, it was truly a world class finish.

I agree about Qatar though. 3 penalties awarded to one team in a final is pretty much unheard of.

^ yeah when he effs up. I dont know when I saw him put 100% last time. He does not show up as his potential in decisive games for the national team.

Well actually, we are used to see Qatar doing „Qatar-things“…. Grassrolling, refs with (let‘s say) questionable decision-making etc… but this time, Qatar really did it by themselves. They just had a big portion of luck and opponents with lack of consistency or strength. All three penalties were rightfully given to Qatar, Jordan‘s defence acted extremely clumsy today.
                      TEAM MELLI UNTIL THE END

i also just dont see how our MT9 gonna be able to unseat Inter's current MT9 for many minutes...!!? 😬
especially so for the 9spot and so in his current shuddy form ..! :/
only seen a half game or 2 of MarcusT. and dude looks a bigger attacking threat than even Lautaro ..? he is younger, faster, more physical and looks a far better finisher than Mehdi..!!
magge an injury to the 2 regular starter would open significant minutes for Mehdi next season or Mehdi's superior versatility could become his redeeming factor ? thus he could amass more regular minutes by filling in a 10 or winger attacker role..?

amma aval az hameh, lets cross fingers he gets that damn transfer over the line b4 Inter start having 2nd thoughts o pashimooni konan..!! lol
then lets keep our fingers crossed for resurgence in his Form and Fitness here in 2nd half of the season..!!
in his current funk, doubtful he could even maintain a regular starting position in Porto ... che bereseh be InterM.
lets prey its just temporary dip in form and not his age finally catching up with him..!!? :/

Terrible Asian cup for Taremi back to factory reset. His shitty performance didn’t help us at all in Asian cup.

Was his biggest fan before this AC. Even travelled to Milan and Porto to watch his UCL games last year. But come on man.. what’s the use of being Iran’s “greatest ever legionnaire”, bagging goals in UCL, transferring to Inter of you can’t ever produce for your country in big moments.

The only time I’ve been amazed by him in TM is the England game, showing maturity and leadership. Other than that, he’s been terrible against Portugal, against USA, and against Qatar. What a shame.

My oh my how the times have changed. I swear we’d eat our own kids on a dime. Everybody relax, he still has brought us more joy than pain. Just like the rest, he’s a victim of circumstances. Until we have a fundamental change in infrastructure, which means from the ground up, and yes I’m talking about the regime that dictates even sport, this is what we got.
