For years I have been one of his biggest fans and have always supported him regardless of his performances, even in difficult times, especially in Porto when he has had a goal drought but in all honesty I have started to realize that his biggest weakness as a professional footballer is his mental permission.
That is always where it falls short. I mean if you look back in time, almost always those matches, moments in matches when you expect the star or the big player to come forward, he fails. I'm thinking of the Portugal match during the WC 2018, important matches in the League for Porto, for example against Benfica or Sporting, in the Champions League against Juventus (Red Card), last Asian Cup against China when he gets an unnecessary yellow card which causes him to be suspended in the semi-final against Japan, during the WC vs USA and now in this Asian Cup against Syria. Not to mention the match against Qatar where he could have scored on at least 2 occasions.
This is a confirmation that he usually makes wrong decisions in the most important moments of matches. That's the difference between big players and regular players. Great players make unexpected decisions, do things that ordinary players don't do in normal cases and that's what sets them apart.
All this means that you unfortunately cannot call him a superstar who can decide matches. So as much as I want to believe that he will succeed in a big European team such as Inter, I strongly doubt it. I hope I'm wrong.
