      TM defeated Japan without Taremi.
      Porto defeated Arsenal without Taremi.

Is anyone ready for this discussion yet?

I would put money that Taremi will start as his aerial ability and defensive contributions will be necessary to take Porto through.
bit smaller frontline maybe but much faster n energetic and fiesty ...!! that's essentially how they managed to fluster a superior quality side today and not even allow them 1 shot on goal..!!
to be a starter in the return match, mehdi would have to first prove himself back in good form and fitness in the games prior to the return leg..!! if recovered from his supposed injury ? im sure he'll get good minutes in league action coming up soon..!!
i havent written off mehdi yet, sure he is in a bit of funk but also not struggling nearly as bad as many here claiming either..!!
imo, he just mostly needs to pick up the Pace in his overall game (running, hustle levels and even decision making with the ball)... eee rooza kheyli feso fes mikoneh ba hame fekra o karraash to meydoon..!

          ps
wonder if this bit of injury layoff gives him the opportunity to fly off to Milan and complete his Inter move before that shit goes tits up like ACM ..!! 😬 but then again how can he pass physical if already busted..!?
this whole medical test thing is sorta retarded formality anyways..?? it aint like his supposed fitness now is gonna be indicative of 5months later when he actually reports to Milan for duty..!!? i think Inter just wanna an excuse to fly him over and close the deal and put a shirt on him and pimp him out to their fans ..!

but honestly, Porto got super lucky with that late goal totally against the run of play and also to a large degree Raya Rid coming off his line so far not saving that attempt from so far out ...! Porto deserved a 0-0 Tie today ... and i think they still will have an uphill climb trying to get past Arsenal at their home on such a narrow 1-0 lead..!! especially so if they try to park the bus and play ultra conservatively..!

ostad you have been saying it since start of LAST season when he ended up dropping 31 GOALS and 14 assists in 51 games... Those numbers are not fluke lol. He did not go to shit overnight suddenly.

Then he had a summer that should hav ended with transfer and didnt, and STILL arguably the most in-form, tactically advanced team in europe, Inter, led by the best coach behind Pep/Klopp (inzaghi) were at front of a cue with atletico madrid and others to sign him on a free, and are committing over EU 3 million/yr to his salary... He proved his quality and then some. These kind of teams have scouts far more qualified than you and I to assess when a player is peaking/on the wrong side of prime/ their form dipping vs actual loss in quality.

Even in CL this season he has been quite good. Great games vs shakhtar and was honestly best player on the pitch vs barca, desperately unlucky with offside goal and every other fwd (galeno, chico, etc) fucking up his assists.

He has been in worse form overall but not unexpected given the consistency with which he has performed for club and country over the past 3-4 years. It is his first actual dip in production, and likely caused by combination of lack of motivation, worse supporting cast, and burnout.

"Sari ham be gaash midim" is exactly what a couple people on here (not you) are wishing for! Iranian specialty.

This guy won one of the best matches in TM history for us with the win against Wales and you guys still attack him. We would not have won without him drawing the red card with his run, or all his contributions. That was only about a year ago by the way.

He had a chance to show he is still a big player in Asian Cup despite his poor season at Porto, and he either couldn’t or didn’t want to. That’s it. The performance on the field is the bottom line in football. Personally I’d rather win an Asian Cup than see Porto advance to kooft round of CL or Inter beat Mortadella. But good luck to him in Milan! He’s gonna need it.

Mitoma and the Japanese all-stars were mostly bad too in the Asian Cup, does that mean they're done?

Also, look at Taremi's ratings for Champions League this season. His scores have been much better in that tournament than anything else.

Iran_19 jan, his CL form has still been excellent - and I think major clubs take that into consideration.

For example, the other team that was interested in him besides Inter, was supposedly Atletico Madrid.

He had one good game against Barca, with no impact on the result. And about Antwerp & Shakhtar… tbh even Zahiroleslam/Sayyadmanesh have shown they can perform against that level. A big player will perform in big games, and he hasn’t done that this season. 0 goal + assist against Benfica x2, Sporting, Barca x2, or even Qatar!

like inarsenalwetrust mentioned before... its just a dip in form and fitness ffs ... no footballer goes on a performance and production tear for so damn long w/o even any injury breaks as Mehdi has the prior 3 or so years..!!

i really think that ultimately debacled ACM Transfer took a lotta of the sail outa him..!!

from the get go he was using Porto as the ideal platform to spring himself into a top 3 league super club next..!!
2 years ago he flat out hinted in his interview that if Porto were keen to make good money from his transfer then they should Consider offloading him before he arrives to the wrong side of 30yo..!! off course Porto mgmt took that hint as a sign of disrespect for their club, got pissed at him for even suggesting that he wanted a move to greener pastures and pretty much told him that he was under contract with porto and its their decision on if and when to cash in on him..!
so Mehdi put his head down and got on to working hard on and off the pitch, meanwhile thinking to himself that with only 1 year remaining on his contract the following summer, Porto will certainly then be eager to transfer and cash in on him .... so he went on to having the Best stat wise career year in EU in anticipation of garnering interest in summer from an attractive EU elite club ... but Porto playing hard to negotiate and asking way too much $$ for his transfer scared away many other would be interested good suitor clubs and finally ACM steps up and agrees to pay the lofty 15mil price tag (for 30+yo on his last year of contract) to lure Porto into letting him finally have his long desired move..!! then they fk him and ACM over by late insertion of a club agent who's demanding additional obscene figure$ in commission..!!
all the while Mehdi is being rewarded for his superior performances in Porto shirt in peanuts of a pay-package ... and getting Fucked outa the most Lucrative portion of his Porto's contact which was the some 15%? kick back from his ensuing transfer fee outa of porto... so some additional $3mil pissed away outa his pocket due to Porto's bs antics which caused the debacle of his transfer to ACM..!
now you tell me if it were you .... would you come back to Porto for your last year with the same excitement and desire to bust your asss on and off the pitch..??

You guys can all argue but even last season almost half of his goals came from the spot!
Still much better than this season but to me his best season was 2 years a go!
