As we know, TM avg age is almost 30. We had the OLDEST team at the world cup, so many players are at the end of the their careers in next few seasons.
Taremi (31) - Guaranteed starter, he has body and playstyle to last him for a long time until next world cup.
Azmoun (29) - He is a shell of his former self, constantly injured and overweight. Still one of our best players but he is reaching almost 30 years old and getting worse every year
Jahanbakhsh (29) - He is a very hard worker but like Azmoun, he has only gotten worse over the years. He can rarely make a good pass anymore, and his future as a TM starter is slowly fading away with the likes of Mohebi/Gholi/Allahyar in the team.
Haj Safi (33) - Asian cup will probably mark the end of Haj Safi as TM left back as a starter, its self explanatory but I don't know how many years he has left on his knees despite still being very fit and a starter in greece, especially when he will be 37 for 2026 world cup.
Aside the aforementioned above players, here is how old the following players will be for 2026 world cup:
Gholizadeh - 31
Ezatolahi - 30
Kanaani - 32
Moharrami - 31
Majid Hosseini - 32
Beiranvand - 33
Ghoddos - 32
etc.
Given that, it feels like we are reaching an end of an era for team melli, as many of our best players will at the end of their prime in next 2-3 years. Having said that, what's next for the team?
When is it time to start focusing on players like Salmani, Jalali, Rostami, Doustali, Mohebi, Ghaedi, Hazbavi, Allahyar (not a lot of hopes for him since he is always injured, hope he proves me wrong). etc
Right now GN is scared of starting younger players because he needs to win every game unless he wants TM supporters to call for him to resign immediately, as is nature of TM coaches.
What do yall think? lets discuss what needs to be done
