Who needs these foreign born legionnaires? What did Dejagha, Ghoochannejhad ever do?

With Queiroz out, the "chains are off" and TM will "win the trophy" with a core of fantastic IPL players... /s

The more I think about it the less I look forward to the future of our football, seems like Japan/South Korea are getting better and better while we get worse and worse

I guess article in front page of pfdc and spme iranian papers give more visibility to this guy for a possible TM career

According to Gol Bezan, he wasn't interested by TM during the wc, and his dad has to get an Iranian passport for him having a chance of being eligible.

If he is not interested, there is no point following him then!

That seems to be the way here - Daleho Irandust (who never wanted to play for Iran) had not one but three threads! Ryan Tafazolli too

I think it's an excitement and age thing, some people like to imagine a magical situation where these guys end up playing for TM

With Ferydoon Zandi it was very different, the guy was keen to play for TM from day one even when he was learning basic Persian

From what I remember wasn’t him saying about not playing for Iran because of his injuries and wanting to settle in at his new club and focus on getting his fitness up and establishing himself in the team.
The conversation has come up on here many a time, people who know him/family have said that he is proud of his heritage and hasn’t mentioned about having no interest in ever playing for Iran.
Also Ryan Tafazolli is someone who wanted to play for Iran, just hasn’t been able to move on to the next level in his career. That is no dig though, he has done which most of us can only dream of.

I never understood tafazolli links - he seems strong, if a bit slow, a good defender sure

But you need communication with your fellow centre back and the keeper in international football. That's why you hardly ever see centre backs who are not fluent in their nations language playing for their country

It's different for the other outfield positions

Good in the air and strong but as you say pace is not his strength. I think the links were there due to the excitement that you talked about, if he pushed on to the next level when he was playing in the Championship but he struggled in that league.
I think the other reason he was linked is because we are not particularly blessed in that department, all of our central defenders have their limitations. None of them have progressed, PAG was for me the one who probably could have but injuries and lack of desire put pay to that.

This was some of the conversation I had with Dennis a while back... While I think European football is his main priority, I wouldn't be surprised if he's interested in playing for Team Melli. He's nothing like that traitor Daleho Iranhater lol

He is only 1/4 persian which maybe makes things tough but it doesn't hurt to try

I will ask him and update you guys on what/if he responds.

Update: He said that he doesn't know whether he will play for Team Melli as he doesn't have a passport and currently wants to focus on this season at Union SG

Definitely a positive sign... If Team Melli management wanted him I think they could sway him

People forget or maybe just don’t know….dejagah rejected TM for many years (at least 5 if not more) before he said yes to TM….this guy isn’t getting called up to Spain or Germany….he will get to a point where he wants to play in a World Cup and acknowledge TM is the best/only option for him to play at the level that every player dreams of playing at (the World Cup).

I also think it comes down to Team Melli staff reaching out to him, which I don't think they have so far...
