This reminds me of the rare minority American soccer fans when they tried recruiting guys like Folarin Balogan and Yunus Musah (whom which both were strongly adamant on refusing to play for USMNT until media and fans kept persisting)

There is a glimpse of good sense there, something we don't have at all

If the Eckert guy was 25% iranian and 75%Kuwaiti, Playing in Kuwait, he would have been considered by GN

Well instead of drowning in our sorrows and wishing we had a glimpse of good sense, why not have more individuals join in on this and adapt a better mentality?

He will get national attention amongst Iranians when he scores against Liverpool (come find me when he does)

He will never get the call from Germany or Spain, unless he transfer to bigger league and kill it there!

Every time we naturalize half iranians or foreign born players we should do as Turks and give them local names. I propose we change Denis name to Abolfazl if he choses to play for us!

Iranians have a reverse habit...we take foreign names and say they are Persian all along...Denis was the name of Dariush's uncle's ex-neighbours 2nd son.

His full name was Denis Tarikoond which the Greeks pronounced Denis Tericot.

Dennis follows Amir Arsalan Mortaz and Behrouz Dehzbod on IG. Both agents.

They (Dennis and Amir) like each others posts and seem to know each other. Wonder if Amir knows if Dennis is interested to represent Team Melli. He or Behrouz may have direct contact with him.

I agree with the sentiment of picking a local name. But Abolfazl is not a local name. Besides, if we are going to pick a fictional hero, let's pick the name of a guy who had hands and legs; better for a footballer. I suggest Samad Agha.

Dennis has an Iranian last name, he opted to go for his mother's maiden name. I know his last name - it's Iranian. So no need to change it.

Isn't it because of the Spanish naming convention? Given Name+ 2 surnames (one from each parent, with the name from the mother being the last one)?

I think he just took his mother's name (both Spanish/German names) and put that as his surname. Eckert Ayensa

I think his is his brother and look how he has it: Ralf Eckert-Dargahi
