I don't understand why iranians dont transmit their heritage to their children (culture language love and curiosity..) at such large scale. It seems they are jews living in Germany in 1940.

Iran situation doesn't help but that's not a valid excuse for such lack of motivation and connection.

Regarding Eckert, I wouldn't be mad if he wasnt called up. 27, injury prone, almost no connection with Iran. I would prefer to bet on our local youngs instead.

About Moroccans, they have a low class immigration in Europe, that's why they have so many players accross Europeans academies

I think hed offer a lot more than any PGPL player atm , we need some variety and a plan B we can't keep relying on Azmoun and Taremi forever
IR Iran factor - World pariah country. Different world to Indonesia or Morocco. Different world from even Syria and Iraq with their US fast food stores and airbases

Moroccans have been built on their foreign born players for a long time now - many of them can barely speak the mother tongue. Anyone who sees videos of Ghoddos being teased like a mascot by the other TM players can see how far we are from bedding in foreign-born players, even when both parents are Iranian

Dudes, Eckert’s relative is an actress in Iran. He’s been interviewed in Iran is at least known. He’s not that disconnected.

I'm sure he is but looks at the clips of the TM players around Ghoddos who finally integrated with the team after six years.

Even IR's current global status aside (check out last night's Eurovision for what happens to any country which criticises Israel - 🇳🇱...) the challenges of bedding in is a different world to Morocco

Don't get me wrong id love Dennis the Menace to be capped, I just really don't see it happening for multiple reasons which I keep reiterating. Would love to be proved wrong

yeah it's interesting to know that Morocco's captain Hakim Ziyech can't even speak Arabic or French. But they've been really recruiting some future stars in the last year or so. I think they could be a potential threat to win the whole World Cup in the future.

interestingly you see 900k Moroccans live in Spain and that's produced around 3 starters for the Moroccan national team
420k Moroccans live in Holland and they've gained 4-5 starters from this too

In contrast 2.2 million South Koreans live in the US - I don't think I can name a single Korean-American football player ever. They recently had just one in the women's game in Casey Phair who's half Korean half American
1.5 million Iranians live in the US and we gained one average full back in Steven Beitashour whom the federation treated poorly and didn't give him enough chances and game time which he said in a interview

I think its a cultural thing and the fact that these Asian countries don't pursue sport as much as the Africans do . I could also see an argument that the Dutch Moroccans would be living in poverty more so and will see football as a way out .

I just think Iranians abroad don't see football as a serious career pursuit hence we are seeing the figures widely different from other nations with a huge diaspora . I still see African nations producing as a result of the great French, Spanish , Dutch and German academies .Heck Indonesian coach went gung ho on recruiting dutch players with a single Indonesian grandparent and they were one game away from qualifying from the olympics this year!

if he didn't want to come he wouldn't have given an interview in Iran on TV. He's interested - deep down he must know that his best chance of appearing at the 2026 World Cup is with Iran. I think as an impact sub he'd be a great option we really need fresh legs upfront

he's got europa league experience and has scored against some top European teams , he's also recently won a trophy too - seems to have a good pedigree about him.

Some major corrupt countries still call up players though. Central African Republic with Kadogmiga from Atletico Madrid Wan Bissaka nearly got called up with dr Congo . I don’t consider theses two countries any less corrupt as Iran

Agha we keep going in circles - it's that IR Iran is a global pariah nation. I don't know where corruption comes into it, this issue is global geopolitics, not corruption indices - why did you knights-move to a separate topic?

It's like Russia calling up a player who was born in Belgium or Canada, they are less likely to go there than they would have before 2014. Because Russia is now global bad guy. DR Congo and CAR are corrupt but aren't global "bad guys" where the player might find themselves sanctioned or take a reputation hit - I don't know how many times I need to repeat this (Sorry finding it a little bit frustrating as the penny isn't dropping)

I don't know what you want me to say - i'm not the one who needs convincing, would love to see him get a call up.

I think most professional football players can look past that sort of thing.
Plus Ghodoos is a professional. He may look like a bache mosbat, but he grew up around rough kids in Malmo - they all understand anywhere you go there will always be someone who doesn't like you.

Furthermore, Eckert isn't good enough to get called up by any of his other nationalities, so the chance to play in World Cup will really entice him.

Heck North Korea is a country with even worse economics and sanctions than ours and their star player in 2010 was Japanese born and bred and was convinced to play international football for the most isolated country on earth . I think a lot of players don’t care personally some of them have gone back to absolute shit show nations of their grandparents just for the crack at the international game

I’m sure Eckert doesn’t care either a chance to play at the World Cup is once in a lifetime - does this destroy him? It could well offer him an opportunity to make a quick name for himself at the international stage . If anything being an Iranian international might open some opportunities up for him In the Asian market .

as for ghoddos Iran has been an actual opportunity to gain some game time its Only beitashour were the federation showed no real effort to integrate him maybe because he was playing football so far away

north korea has been politically isolated for decades yet they still rely on J league players of north korean ancestry in fact they just called one up a few months ago Mun-In Ju and let's not forget Jong Tae See who was key in their qualification in fact i dont think jong tae see even is of north korean ancestry lmao his parents parents were from the south he just attended a north korean school in japan

my point most players don't care they just want the chance to sign on the world stage - im sure if we came calling for Eckert he will come - he's got everything to gain and little to loose really .

He also has been to Iran before...he talked about it in an interview last year.

                              This is a subjective factor.

Iran was a pariah state in the 90s/2000s too. Daei left Bayern every single time to play in muddy schoolyard pitches in the Maldives because playing for Iran was more important to him.

If Nov 27, 2022 I got a call from CQ to help Iran vs the US in two days, I'd wrestle the whole family off to get to the plane.

We will know how much of that will be a factor for Eckert soon

He’s actually been to Iran more times than Saman Ghoddos has been before he joined team Melli
