And they saw we didn't have any messi or mbappe coming out of the diaspora (either for TM or other NT). And contrary to other NT like iraq, syria, morocco, they just see we got equivalent or slightly better players coming from Iran (Azmoun, Taremi, Ezza, JB, Daei, neku, Mahdavikia..) than diaspora (ghoddos, gucci, dejagah, zandi..).

Dont forget, iranians are the the biggest kharejiparast in the world. However, surprisingly, in situations where they would be right to be kharejiparast, they suddenly become Iranian patriots and rather keep iranian garbage (GN over foreign coach, IPL mediocre players over diaspora ones)
Iran was never colonized by a European country so the connects that Arab/African teams have to European academies/clubs don't exist for us.

    I agree they are lazy.

Especially when the logic of looking only for Messi or Mbappe exists. Ghoddos was our most important player this Asian cup and Dejagah before that (in midfield too).

Even if the diaspora players have ups and downs we should still trial them. What if they give us depth regardless? A real backup LB to Hajsafi/Mohammadi? A backup to Ezatolahi? Backup to Azmoun? These are the positions we have not filled for years.

Agree -at the very least Kaveh and Eckert will bring some element of discipline to the table. They seem to have good attitudes differing from the Iran bazi

There is also another gap, and we can realize it when listening to Gucci, Dejagah recent interview or seeing Ghoddos in TM. It is the gap between diaspora people that aren't fully considered iranians, their persian will never been good enough for domestic iranians, and the difference with our domestic players mostly alvat from paiin shahr. Just imagine a Yale graduate with some dahati ozgal like Kanaani.

I don't know if it was because the interview was made by TM fans but I feel he is more interested by TM. He speak about switching NT in case his first camp is not a good fit. It reminds me what I say above. However there is also the opposite experience like the moroccan Hakimi going to Spanish NT and realizing he doesn't feel completly integrated.

The interview is done now, but I would have been curious about the team he supported in the last Iran/USA in WC22. Also why Kahveh et non Kaveh in his name.

Thats a good point and we honestly won't know how it goes until it happens.

I would hope we can make peace between Iranians in and outside Iran if Moroccans, Iraqis, Syrians can do it with their diaspora players and rest of the team.

Would love to see which team Iran or USA he picks when he watches tournaments or plays FIFA/PES too.

The spelling of his name I think is not as important because a lot of Iranian-Americans here have different spelling of their names for the same name:

Keyvon, , Kevan, Kayvon, Keyvan etc

          Aria, Arya or Arian/Aryan

          Kamran, Camran

          Arianna, Aryana

          Neema, Nima

i havent watched this kid play yet, only a few goal highlights here n there.... sure his profile sounds promising (hight/smarts) amma Baazie yaroo ham mali ast..??
i pass judgment on that when i watch him play a game vs a decent quality opposition, but ftb can't help it feeling he is being awfully overhyped on this board..??

There is no question he is a talented kid, he was leading scored in US college sports at Yale, then he played for top MLS side Chicago FC at 20 and now he has scored more goals in like 8 games this season than Azmoun and Taremi combined at league level this season (sad fact ).

Normally I don't overhype kids either but he has a lot of what I think will make him succeed unless he gets injured. He's tall, fast, and intelligent

US Collegiate level soccer competition is only a small step above semi-amature league levels here in states..!!, even so his scoring stats at Yale looks far from really impressive and eyebrow raising, especially taking into account pk goals..!!?

Chicago FC is just a semi-professional team in USL League Two, the fourth-tier of American soccer... different from Chicago Fire of MLS..!!

overall quality of Belgium league ham ziadi mali nist, especially the smaller clubs that are just there to make up the numbers like st. truiden etc. but i agree this is the most impressive and high profile juncture of his still young and promising career..!!

just saying its still way too early to panic and worry about oh what if he chooses USMNT over TM..!! lol

He didn't play for an MLS teams, he played third tier (Chicago United). The level of competition in the league is the equivalent of the 6th tier English football

Oh interesting, I thought it was the same Chicago team . In that case we have to wait and see, he said by the end of the season his goal is to get to 10 goals. If he does his value will probably be in the millions and will have an easy path to La Liga/Premier League. They eat these players up at this age

Game today against Anderlecht on espn+ (US). Watch this one instead of waiting 90 minutes for Azmoun to get subbed in.

Invite him. We need fresh legs and rotation for Azmoun and Taremi.

If he can play decently against Anderlecht and score (on Kasper Schmeichel previously on Leicester City and Danish GK) and Jan Vertonghen's defense he can play vs Asian level opposition just fine
