"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Fact: Last time PP lost their first game they reach ACL finals.

Not a IPL fan but I expected to see more from al nassr.

The goalie injury is also a very silly excuse being beiranvand’s performance was fine.

persepolis did great in the ACL runs I don’t take that away from them but they have in the last two seasons regressed significantly. We didn’t participate in ACL last year so it didn’t show as much and now it is. If we play as cluelessly as we did today against Al-Duhail we will lose 2-0 or 3-0 too.
Persepolis players value 14 million euro
al naser players value 199 million euro.

...after torabi got injured win was out the door....
after sarlak red GAME OVER, but if Yahya would of brought in yasin and Asad bighi right after red instead of pushing forward played for tie the match should of been 0-0....if but could of, dont mean jack so I am not trying to make excuses as scoreboard is what's count and it shows 2-0....
even in pgl if we lose torabi and sarlak to red most matches we lose so al naser didn't do anything special.........

Pgl going 1-1-1 in first week of acl was not a disaster .....if pgl cN get 2 teams to knock out stages it will be success for the league.

Only 5 foreign-born players allowed in squad. They have Mane Ronaldo Brozovic Laporte and Otavio.

AFC should do more to improve ACL :
            • get less teams from small countries and create another division/competition for them (like Europa league). This Europa league could get the 3rd and 4th of KSA, Iran, Japan.. participating.
            • All the esthetic, ceremonial, logos, ads around the pitch should be enhanced.
            • Stop dumb decision like the PP close door sanctions.
            • Mix West and East from the QF
In NT level, this levelling from the bottom is counter productive. We don't play KSA, Australia at all, but teams like bahrain, syria... over and over again. Do a nation league with Asia top 6 and divisions rather than useless round of WCQ

Fair points about our poor play and the pitch being poor for both teams.
However we played with 10 men against a team that has one of the highest payrolls on earth.
We also don't have a top class forward that killed what few attacks we had.

I think my point in general has always been this.
              Doom and gloom doesn't help
In terms of infrastructure our football is 3rd world.
In terms of talent we are somewhere between 1st and 2nd tier.

Our league loses alot of luster because it is presented very poorly.
We do remarkably well considering how little IR cares for our football.
THe league itself statistically is getting better. Advanced metrics say this. I swear half the reason our football seems bad is because IRIB doesn't know how to make things look good.

We have systematic issues in our football as well (lack of focus on youth, too conservative at times...) but I really believe neglecting and forgetting our football will do nothing.

What little improvements we've had in our football have been because the donkeys in charge get embarrassed.
Azadi stadium would never have gotten renovated in 2003 if we hadn't been embarrassed with the swimming pool Azadi was for Asian club championship in 1999.
We wouldn't have gotten seats in most of our stadiums if AFC hadn't forced it.
We wouldn't get women in stadiums (as inconsistent as it is) without FIFA forcing it.
We wouldn't have gotten more cameras and a big screen display if Germany hadn't come to Iran for a friendly in 2004.
We wouldn't have gotten VAR (at least the setup) if i thadn't been for AFC demanding it.

                Well said.
Also they did impressive "cosmetic" changes for Azadi stadium for ACL final (2018?) in presence of Infantino.
KSA stars will force us to improve in many level. In two weeks, Neymar and Benzema will come and hopefully the trend may continue next year..
Of course, don't expect Azadi to become Allianz Arena and our teams Bayern munich. But at least we can see some improvement here and there. If CR7 tweeted some aberurizi for Iran, you can be sure our lazy *** would have move fast.

It's also ironic Torabi got injuried bc the people he supports are unable to keep a decent pitch

Btw Neymar + current Azadi pitch in two weeks = 100% injury!

Otavio said it was the most dangerous game he played bc of the pitch.

Btw why teams have number in the front of their kit but not Al Nassr? Another stupid idea from AFC

After pushing and kicking ball towards nobahar player, AFC MIGHT AND SHOULD SUSPEND NIMAR for 1 match....if that the case u won't be coming...

Talent and ghirat only works when your best player don't get injure and don't go down to 10 man,
then ghirat and talent might pervile...
everything about this football has gone to hell since 1978. Systematic way of killing football has worked BUT SINCE FANS still care about their club team and tm its a live and kicking, and results on international level is purely base on talent and girat
and nothing else......iran football enemies want fans to lose interest on tm and club teams . as long as fans show interest this football will not die.....we are supporting a league and tm on life support and we must continue supporting it...now if we get mad losing to a team spent 200 million euro on players alone, THATs FROM OUR GIRAT,EMOTION AND LOVE there is for football.REALITY IS PERSIAN FOOTBALL IS A SICK PATIENT coming in and out of coma but we can not give up on it.

I hope Iran's horrid stadiums and field conditions results in having all ACL games move to a neutral ground. All the Al Nassr players complained like the Russian players before.

man that’s unfair to our fans, especially the lady ones. At least move it to a city with a decent field. Or even a smaller stadium like Pas Stadium in Ekbatan.

Azadi stadium needs a new pitch. The pitch lasted well for 20 years! Unfortunately there is a pitch mafia in Iran right now that are simultaneously destroying the pitch so they can get paid to install a pitch incorrectly several times over.

same mafia that destroyed the Nassaji and Sepahan fields as well.
meanwhile the contractor that installed Abadan’s pitch 17 years ago doesn’t get a contract, even though it’s an excellent pitch in one of the hottest cities in Iran.
