I've seen enough to believe that Mourino is on to something with the way he is using Azmoun. I don't remember Sardar being this energetic and this fast even in his younger years. He coaches an unattractive CQ style of a game but like CQ he knows what he wants. Sardar seems to be very much a sprinter and not so much a long distance runner. He also sees open spaces so well.

With Mou it's different. He has looked up to him for a long time.

As another member mentioned a while ago, it really messes up the flow of the defense to have a player come on with such a drastic difference in style. The exact things you'd do to defend against someone who likes the ball at feet (stay tight, for example) work against you when you are facing someone who likes the ball in space (staying tight allows him to sprint past, for example).
Another key difference is the one touch pass that azmoun excels at (even at his worst times over the last 3 seasons). Neither luk or dyb like to tap the ball for their team mates. They generally always take multiple touches and dribble.
It's all in all a nightmare for defenses.

Unpopular opinion but I think that Azmoun should stay and play the Coppa Italia game against Lazio on the 9th before going to the Asian cup. He should be getting playtime against Atalanta and Lazio and he could cement his place, which is much better than playing against Burkina Faso in a friendly.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Roma want to include Azmoun in their long term plans...
https://romapress.net/roma-want-to-i...ong-term-plans
Roma are extremely satisfied with attacker Sardar Azmoun’s output since his arrival in the summer.
The 29-year-old has impressed both Mourinho and the club despite playing very limited minutes in the first months of this season.
His appearances off the bench have often resulted in Roma getting a result near the final minutes of almost any game Azmoun featured in.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma would like to include Azmoun in their long-term plans.
However, for the time being the club have not taken a decision yet as to whether trigger the option in his loan from Bayer Leverkusen or not.
Azmoun’s current price-tag is €13 million – a fee that Roma will not be able to afford if they fail to qualify for Champions League.
