Some nice goals from sardar during practice! I know it's just practice but still nice to see and I really hope he's building some momentum to start scoring/playing more often!

I thought so too. Much more involved in the drills than I have seen in the past under DDR.

He's slated to "start" tomorrow (really a substitution on the game the had to be postponed). He'll have just under 20 minutes to prove his mettle again.

honestly it isnt much change from what the feeling was here and for roma fans after his brighton game, league cameos pre international break.

He has been very effective for roma in limited mins since the beginning of the loan.

He is a very good CF in most departments, even at the top end of serie A. Physical strength, intelligence of movement, link up play, weight of pass, speed in behind. He is a great character around the dressing room.

He has an issue related to stamina/injuries. His body hasnt been the same since that bout of long covid. When I still think of his peak physically (Although his hold up play is better now that he has bulked up) it would be that first CL campaign with zenit where he tore up Lyon and Benfica. Even in that last season when he killed chelsea and scored on juve, he had gained weight and that is when injury problems with calf/ankle started, which were compounded down the line when he played on basically 1/2 a calf during a WC.

Unless this issue is solved he will never get regular mins at a big club, not because he isn't good enough. In fact, he continues to prove all the people that question his quality totally wrong. All these coaches from xabi (who still went back to him for key matches) to mou who praised him heavily to now De rossi who preferred to ship belotti off to keep sardar (when both had offers on the table from elsewhere in January) clearly see something to persist with a guy who is so inconsistent fitness wise. Even the interest he continues to generate show this. Not many guys can play as few mins as he has this year and still have roma, atalanta and fulham chasing a permanent deal after 3 years with limited mins/goals.

His mins restriction is basically something self-imposed...even if the coaches want to unleash him there is a prevailing sense that physically he isnt totally right and thus cameos with occasional starts are the only responsible way he can be used.

If he solves that (which I am sure he is taking steps to address, but still not there yet) there is no doubt he will score 10+ goals even in top league. His goals/mins ratio indicates that pretty strongly.

Sardar reminds of of Zion Williamson. Incredible physique, explosiveness, and talent but never took physical fitness and dieting seriously, thus very injury prone and with limited stamina

Azmoun made a good chance for himself but smart save from the goalie. Closed down the defender, good strength to keep the ball and then took his shot but was little too close to the goalie.
He looks sharp , he is perfect for a 20 minute game 🙂

Counter from Roma , Dybala needed to play Azmoun in but he takes the shot - wrong call.

Azmoun plays Angelino in on goal. Angelio’s cross leads to a horrible clearance from the defender - corner leads to another corner and Cristante scores the header for the win.
De Rossi , the bench and all the players go mental. Azmoun sliding knee celebration - he looks happy and confident, please stay fit as a happy Azmoun is dangerous.

I hate that on iranian players. And then we have mediocre Iranian gk getting hyped because they saved shots on them.

I saw that shot, azmoun should have done better than this lazy hurry shot if he wanted to force his destiny. It's about time he shows some glimpse of world class.

His last goal was also a header and a rebound on the goalie, was lucky he got a 2nd rebound
