    So the other results today were great for us. I did a quick calculation and it seems that a draw against Uzbekistan is enough for us to qualify to the next round. Even a small loss could be enough but that's too risky.

    The only groups that would rank above us if we draw against Uzbekistan are Group H (if Malaysia and Thailand draw) and Group K (if Indonesia and Turkmenistan draw) and potentially Group J if Cambodia beats Saudi Arabia but I don't see that happening.

    Let's hope we win though and go as the top team.

      it will be pack house as usual against tm.
      Tmo or senior is most mportant match for host natuons through asia.....all Asia soccer fans when tm travel to their nation SHOW UP IN MAX...
      tm is like pp when they travel outside of tehran.

      It looks like A draw is great both will go through..
      I think both teams specially uzbakistan will play for draw....

      A tie between afg vs hnkg is better for tm gd
      we be +4 instead of +3.....

        Hossein Zamani, the Iranian-born Afghani, played for Afghanistan today against Iran.

        He was an Ajax u17 player and had quite a buzz. He is now 20 and club-less (shows how the academy and youth team you’re in doesn’t matter that much).

          I like to see good Afghan players in irN league..they are progressing tmo beat them 10-0 in 02 now is 4-0
          good Afghan players come to ,league 3,league 2 or league 1
          In iran and might even start having them in pgl as they are progressing.......

            Uzbek will be huge challenge. They are loaded in this age category. CB Abdukodir Khusanov got big move to Lens in france (3rd place last season) and star winger fayzullaev moved to CSKA this summer, already getting minutes a few weeks in. Few other guys in russia too, Rubin Kazan and other teams.

            But more than that, they grew up together, playing through age divisions, regular camps, most playing for the same club as well (FC Olympik).

            Compare to our guys whose clubs dont release them half the time and had like 1 (domestic) camp before this, where they played PGPL/azadegan teams + that WAFF tournament in Iraq, with a certified melon as head coach. Uzbek are heavy favorites. If we do anything it will be through shear brilliance of our individuals, as usual a recipe for disaster

                Afghanistan would also have better national teams compared to what they currently have if they had their diaspora players

                        It's tough to justify now because he doesn't have a team anymore. Three years ago, he seemed like he could become a great player. But now, he doesn't have a team. This shows how quickly things can change in football. In a short time, you can go from being really good to almost nothing.

                        But Iran wasn't even an option for him. He rather go to a bad team over Iran because probably bad experiences as an Afghani in Iran (or heard about it from parents/family/community etc.)​

                          If we are going to stand a chance against Uzbeks, we need the likes of M.J.H. to really shine and dominate the midfield.
