Iran vs. Bulgaria - [Game Thread] | Friendly | Thursday, September 7th
We played like a 24th place team at the World Cup. Nothing to write home about and totally pointless in the grand scheme of things. I don't know why you guys still bother following this nonsense.
People have to realize that A lot of our less talented players who are looking bad these days, were never that good in the first place. Guys like Nour, Ramin, Haj Safi etc. Guys at that level need a coach who gives them specific instructions and they pretty much stick to what the coach wants. Once they start to improvise their weakness becomes glaring and it shows. Under GN, these less talented players have no chance of succeeding. For the Iranian standard, guys like saman and Ezzi are way too advanced. That’s why they could barely play a minute in their clubs, and show up to TM and look good when there is no plan or organization from the coach.
Unfortunately the wear a tear of Taremi is starting to show. I think he could have prolonged his career by playing on an inter or AC where he doesn’t have to put 90 hard minutes on his body every week.
I am on the fence with JB. I still think he contributes to TM in spurts. Been saying this for years, but would love for a coach to play him more centrally as he is getting slower with age.
I was never sold on Mohebi. I don’t see the hype. He just doesn’t belong. I presume moving forward that’s going to be Allahyars spot. But there has to be someone better than him out there. I even rate Torabi higher.
We need Taremi and Sardar upfront. Mohebi is nowhere near ready and Moghanlou might never be. Allahyar only showing glimpses when not injured and Zahedi needs time to get back on track to even get invited!
Unfortunately Sardar hasn't been in form for a year and Taremi is misfiring early in the season. Both of them need to start scoring.
Some players ok for club and play possessed level great football for NT in comparison. I think Shoja is that person. He does well for TM, Uruguay one, and Korea game (until he was subbed) and this showed it wasn't a fluke
Sayyadmanesh at left back could be such a fire idea
i've always thought same..!
his skillset and style of play seems ideal for more of a Wingback position..!!
high energy , in your face combative, Fast , always eager to push forward and has the stamina and good pace for recovery..!
he looks somewhat more comfortable down left side anyways ... which better allows him to cut inside for shots on attacking forrays ..!
and LWB is perhaps the position of highest demand and shortest supply in today's football, and off course that is the one position TM has suffered the most throughout the past decades for depths and quality ..!
Winger next best .... never figured him for a good CF..!!
a switch to LWB could be an ideal solution to his currently rather weak markatiblity ...!!?
he would just needs to polish up a bit on his defensive organization/communication with CBs and Containment skills and we could have ourselves Peak-Form MilMo at LWB but with actual Attacking/crossing/shooting/scoring abilities..!!
Watched the game finally after being in clinic during the game. Here are my thoughts and ratings:
Beiro: N/A rating lol.. This guy loves getting injured and subbed 20 mins into every team melli game it seems.
Shoja: 8 Always rated him more than PAG in the last two years. He's had his ups and downs but today his 1 v 1 defending and defensive contributions were best on the team
PAG: 7 Wasn't really tested, but did okay on the ball
Ehsan: 8 I don't really get the hate.. Sure he gets caught defensively but he's a big reason we can even push the ball on the left side of the field. His passing, dribbling and ball control is great. Maybe he'd be better off at LM against a more defensive side?
Ramin: 6.5 mediocre game. Like PAG wasn't tested too much on his side.. Defensively was solid but had some bad passes too
Saeid: 7.5 overall controlled the midfield pretty well
Nourollahi: 6.5 mediocre, some bad giveaways but decent hustle and ball winning.
Ghoddos: 9 MOTM. Brilliant all game until he was subbed.. Was the reason our midfield played so well and had so many attacking chances. Tactically and technically above everyone, as Arsene Wenger said back in 2017 when Arsenal played Ostersunds. What a great assist
ARJ: 6.5 Hustling and defending was good, attacking options and passes along with final third choices could have been better
Mohebbi: 7 scored a goal, had decent positioning throughout the game.. Some wasteful chances though
Taremi: 5 absolutely horrible. Worst game I've seen from him... Wasted like 4-5 goal scoring chances with touches heavier than Lizzo
SUBS:
Moghanlou: 5 Not team melli material
Milad: N/A invisible
Karimi: N/A Slower than Ezatolahi, which is honestly impressive besides that didn't see much
Daneshgar: N/A
Niazmand: 7.5 very solid game and good exits. Not tested too much though
