Asian football can't be compared to the ones already in Europe.

Let's instead look at a team like Japan after 2018 and 2022:

After 2018 world cup, the following transfer window had Ritsu Doan move to Eredivisie, Ito to Stuttgart, Kubo to Real Sociedad, Mitoma to Brighton (this one a while later).

After 2022 you had: Doan to Freiburg, Ueda to Feyenoord, etc.

I'm not saying the world cup makes A LOT of difference, but it's undeniable that literally EVERYONE is watching. You think if we tied USA and got R16, and Salmani started instead of Noorallahi, he wouldn't have offers left and right to big clubs? Obviously that's a dream but it would have projected him much higher than waiting to be Perspolis leftover backup
The Japanese you quote were discovered by other way, U competition, smaller euro clubs.
Moroccans more hyped players were the one is small euro teams. Bono got interest from Real because he proved itself in Sevilla/la liga for years. WC was just a confirmation. Real didn’t forget how they got robbed for James Rodriguez after wc14.

I posted an article here detailing WC isn't a game changer like before. Arsene Wenger also repeat that everywhere.
Otherwise, Cheshmi would at least got some interest from small euro teams, same with Hosseini with an upgrade transfer, even Jalali..

The day when a young Shojaei come, dribble two in a meaninless game against Angola at wc 06 and get a transfer to laliga is over.

the kid in PSG is really good - Japan have had loads of players like him but this is the first time i see such a tricky dribbling midfielder in Korea

Korea just beat Saudis and dominated the game in terms of chances. They are really solid this time around. But with our friendlies in comparison to our opponents we shouldnt really put too much hope to even making it to the QF lol UAE just whooped a full strength Costa Rica 4-1. With previously at SK, Bento’s UAE have been playing very well. Could definitely see us dropping points vs them. Besides with all due to respect, what’s the point of this thread? We beat SK in QF but I’m telling you it is Japan’s year and they will win it this time around. This TM will not defeat them with GN unless a miracle happens. Just look what Japans doing vs us (4-1 vs Germany, 4-2 vs Turkey) And they play beautifully.

According to some members here we shouldn't worry about UAE because they are arabs and we shouldn't play teams that play like UAE and instead we should play pacey top quality teams like Angola .

Uae in ac will be a different team.
2015 they knocked out japan in qf
2019 they knocked out Australia in qf.
                covid killed their progress.
Tm will win the group but
game against uae will not be as easy as wcq matches was....

                Next time instead of angola
                caliber team
Tm should go play traktorsazi in tabriz.
                It be 80+k fans ...

Genuinely curious why we don't book more friendlies with Turkiye. They're literally next to us, yet we never play them. Same with teams like Egypt, Australia, etc. Kazakhstan too, they're leading EUFA qualifiers group and beating top tier teams

We had a friendly with Turkey in 2018 and lost 1-2.

They are excellent European quality competition, we should try to get them more often

I'm not too worried about Korea. Saudi has been in terrible form since Renard's departure. Korea's win over this Saudi doesn't make them unbeatable. Also, Korea was outplayed by Wales last week, being outshot 4-11. They have 3 exceptional talents (Son, Kim Min-Jae, Lee Kang-In) but the gap between the 3 and the rest of Korean squad is big.

As for Japan, GN should put 5 defenders if TM meet them. Otherwise we will end up conceding 4 goals like Peru, Germany and Turkey. Japan's left/right wingers are world class. Mitoma is one of the best dribllers in the world and Kubo has been phenomenal in La Liga since last season.

5 defenders won't work tbh. We tried 6-3-1 against England and still lost majorly. We simply don't have good defensive stars, but what we do have is excellent offense. So in my opinion we need to take advantage of our technique and offense to score as many goals as possible while trying to match them.We lost again to the midfield of US after CQ decided to for some reason defend all game again against US.

The biggest liability for us is Haj Safi at LB. Japanese wingers are gonna toy with him and run past him.

4 of the goals we conceded in World Cup were from a left cross assist. Saka and Dest dominated us.

We NEED a plan for LB otherwise it's a loss. Whether that plan is Jalali or Milad or Allahyar or whatever idk.

I would agree if the fans don't turn it into a political game Fars vs turk. Last time they turned it ugly by bringing turkish flag to stadium.

Man when I think about Korea's transfermarkt.de value going from the same as ours to 4-5 times ours over the last 12 months, I think more about their defensive players becoming the best in Asia

Totally forgot that they still have some damn good attacking players.

Clicked on the premier league updates right now and the only two faces are Koreans for Wolves and Spurs

People who think that Japan is by far the strongest side in Asia may have a surprise when they see what has happened to this Korea team
