China PR's Serbian Head Coach job is on the line, if China PR lose WCQ against Thailand and South Korea, he will be sacked. I do not see him agreeing to face Team Melli.

Although he was brave to accept friendly with Bulgaria. Other teams he was willing to play were (he liked the idea of Russia, Kenya, Belarus, Oman, Kuwait be invited to CAFA Nations Cup), he also was excited for facing Jordan and Qatar, during his time as coach this year FFIRI tried to arrange friendly matches with Iraq, Lebanon, Oman, Kuwait, Indonesia, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Angola, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda but eventually Angola was selected.

So it seems Ghalenoei is perhaps just uneasy about facing South Korea. He has no problems facing teams like Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Japan or European national teams.

He knows full well that it would be a highly contentious friendly & SK would go all out in search of a win vs TM ..!
& a somewhat probable loss would all but means his asss as TM coach ..!
besides good chance of facing them in semis of AC..! Probably Best off not to show our hands early to them ..!?

I don’t think TM should play South Korea right before the tournament as it’s likely we face them in the tournament itself.

It is the QF predicted by many. Unless one of Jordan, Bahrain or Iraq manages to deal a blow to S.Korea.

We need to play a top 60 national team at least. TM cruises against above 60 teams. I think Skocic could be getting same results as GN no problem...

The real test comes against top opponents, and that tests our defense, which shows the quality of defensive coaching that actually matters.

Not counting South Korea and Russia which FFIRI has rejected friendly matches with them before Asia Cup, also not counting Saudi Arabia who refused friendly with Team Melli, considering diplomatic relations with IRI or past experience communicating with FFIRI or past friendly matches with Team Melli, realistic options among top 60 would be:

More likely: Japan, Tunisia, Panama, Mali, Venezuela

Maybe: Algeria, Costa Rica, Senegal, Ecuador, Norway, Paraguay, Burkina Faso

If FFIRI can arrange the sum these team require or meet their other requirements, friendly with them will be possible: Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Uruguay, Chile, Ivory Coast, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Poland, Peru, Mexico

Strangely I have never seen any news about Serbia or Slovenia being interested in friendly with Team Melli despite their football federation or countries having solid friendly or diplomatic relations with IRI

Slovenia and Serbia want to play with better teams not worse teams! They are not driven by ideology.

Out of your list North African teams is good for ac prep.
really going into ac w/o playing east asian team
With possible qf s.k. semi China and final Japan
                      Is a big mistake..

Team Melli will play Indonesia in Doha, Qatar on January 6 behind closed doors (no broadcast).

                        https://www.sarpoosh.com/football/ir...402080257.html

Team Melli has not played many matches behind closed doors (no broadcast), as far as I remember Trinidad and Tobago (2014), Papua New Guinea (2016), Lithuania (2018), Tunisia (2022), and I think there were a few more perhaps versus Iraq, Qatar.

Out of former Yugoslavia, TM faced Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia many times, also faced Croatia and Montenegro twice. It almost played Kosovo as well which got cancelled, but never any interest from Slovenia and Serbia, both of them play Iran in Futsal and other sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, etc.

Team Melli played Slovakia twice, and Czechoslovakia once in 1970s, however never Czechia!

Yes, there is always a closed doors match right before a major tournament to just make any final adjustments.

Iran v Croatia x 2 were immediately prior to WC98 and WC2006. That is different than straight friendlies. That is tournament preparation from which both sides benefit.

It is not a WC year so no benefit to a European team playing with a (2nd rate) Asian side.

Bosnia...driven by ideology... Muslims and supported in the war by IR.

Macedonia...were a minnow at that time so would take anyone.
