Another important point can be seen in the goal celebration. They immediately run to abdi, the bench mobs the goalscorers, etc.

There is a real togetherness in this group. That coupled with talent and strong coaching of the basics can go a long way at this age bracket. They did and will continue to make errors, bad decisions around the box, errant passes, defensive mistakes, etc. It is about not capitulating when a few of those happen and keeping the atmosphere positive. Abdi is managing that perfectly and has clearly instilled that culture in them for a long time.

Also, their second half underlined what is ideal iranian football blueprint in a nutshell. Direct, quick transitions, using high technical and physical capabilities of our players to do damage with smart, fast passing combos. Unfortunately on the other end they were not as solid as this type of game plan requires, clearly there is stuff to work on there (although some of these brazilians are undoubtedly going to be the best in the world 5 years from now), but there is a basic identity and idea there.

There are really explosive offensive weapons at abdi's disposal. Between Gholizadeh, Taheri, Ghandipour (all 3 sepahan academy products) and Mahan Sadeghi (Malavan) he has so much talent to choose from its actually a bit difficult to incorporate them all at once and keep the teams balance.

On tuesday they will play england, another chance to shine in front of the worlds eyes. This time they will have the confidence of a big result to boost them. Keep in mind, unlike Chamanians u17 team who were able to play and defeat france u17 and mexico u17 just a few weeks before the start of the tournament in friendlies, these guys havent had any real friendlies against teams their age, besides a set of 2 matches in saudi vs saudi some months ago. Besides that the korea and japan matches at AC were their biggest tests. Most of their prep in iran has been playing older teams (Perspolis, Nassaji, etc senior sides). Hardly an ideal situation.

Crazy to think Arsha just turned 17 a month ago. This kid has potential to be a world class keeper. Hopefully his development doesn’t stagnate, which is a common theme with a lot of other Iranian talents

Would be nice to see him get a move to a nice European club when he’s 18

When was the last time iran was down by 2 or more goals and came back to win with all goals coming in second half? This was legendary mental determination

Seriously, so much talent in GK in that kid. His positioning and saves are so smart, including his reaction time. He has very high IQ. He was also constantly telling his defense to close holes and get it together

“In the first half, playing the Brazilians had too much influence on the players. They were maybe thinking, ‘They are Brazil, we are not…’ At half-time, we spoke with them, we made two changes to the line-up [bringing on Kasra Taheri and Alireza Homaeifard], we pushed them and gave them hope and inspiration. After that, you see what happened.”
                    -Coach Abdi

“We analyzed Brazil and this specific training helped us score the second goal,”
                    -Shakouri.

“In our programme from last month until now, we have been training every day for this match. We know Brazil very well.”
                    -Coach Abdi

"Brazil is the biggest team in the world but every player gave their biggest effort and performed to our best. I’m so glad to help my team with a great performance. It is an amazing feeling to do this at the biggest competition in the world for our age group. It is a great honour.”
                    -Shakouri

Wow! .. that was a good start for Iran! Kudos to the young boys.

We now have to keep up the good performan e going into thr game with England. They scored 10 against the NCL and will be coming to the match against Iran with high confidence. A win will be amazing and somehow a revenge for the world cup defeat, a draw will be good enough and a loss will not be the end of the road.

I like to see team going places.

This is what Iranians deserve and can deliver but unfortunately we are prisoners of the current regime and can't show our talent.
