Generic thoughts:

1. JB wasn't any different than most games. Has some turnovers, has some good scenes, gives 100% effort, sold defensively. He is frustrating at times, but he has the ability to make a game changing play. You can see why some Feyenoord fans are frustrated with him.

2. Ramin always finds a way to contribute on the offensive end. I can't remember the last time TM scored from a direct FK.

3. Kanani is a darn good defender. Strong, smart on the ball, no nonsense. Too bad he is such a knucklehead.

4. Azmoun looks as fit and sharp as I can remember.

5. Mehdi still doesn't look quite himself, he's hesitant. Hopefully the goal helps.

6. Saman is a class (or two) above the rest of the team.

7. I don't understand why Mohebi is a fixed starter (Oracle claims GN loves him). Basij boy is much better than him. Or we can add another midfielder (Karimi) instead.

8. Our old age is really concerning, and GN isn't doing much about it. What's the point of subbing in Ansarifard so late? Rather give those minimal minutes to a youngster.

9. I liked how GN was yelling at Shoja when we were up 3-0. We should never take our foot off the pedal.

mohebi will at some point take over from taremi as long as he improves and sharpens up the many raw aspects of his game.

Even in 2018 many fans didn't want Taremi to start - he only was considered a truly fix player at the Asian Cup aged 27.

In 3 years time when he is 34, Mohebi will be 27 and hopefully can take the mantle of that support striker position. I don't think he'll be as good though

But against Hong Kong surely one would select a player who is, among the LBs, the best offensively?

Ghodos had a good game, made a couple of nice passes. He should have had an assist but Mohebi did not anticipate the pass. Let us be real though, he had no defensive duties and was asked to distribute the ball under zero pressure. I hope JB is not injured. He seemed very upset about his physical condition when he was subbed out.

Only watched the first half, and that was very spotty due to the week streams, but did Hajsafi do anything useful? The two plays I recall with him, he was dribbling HK and just kicked the ball out, and the other time he took a shot from no man’s land which was WAY off target. What is his contribution? this is why i never understand people suggesting a Ghoddos-Ezatollahi central midfield partnership.

How does that work? I've seen Ghoddos play wing back but never seen him do central defensive duties
