Only watched the first half, and that was very spotty due to the week streams, but did Hajsafi do anything useful? The two plays I recall with him, he was dribbling HK and just kicked the ball out, and the other time he took a shot from no man’s land which was WAY off target. What is his contribution? Please someone make me feel better about his presence on the field.

To be honest we could have played any of the top 5 LBs in PGL and gotten more out of it. He got caught out 2-3x and our CBs covered for him.

I respect him and his service for Team Melli but if Shomurodov or Mitoma runs at him I might stroke out

Should be an easy win with a 3 or 4 goal difference. Not necessarily because of our coach's tactics but for the fact that Sardar & Mehdi are just (way) too strong for these caliber Asian teams.

Not quotin myself to say i was right or anything, but this team with the so called "general" as coach and without Sardar & Mehdi would not be better than Uzbekistan. Forget about Japan, South Korea etc.

We will most likely make it to the WC, which with 8 1/3 slots is no wonder but fact is this team is way too old and doesnt have a proper coach.

There is really no reason players like Ansarifard or Ebrahimi should still be part of the team. Experience is no excuse. Players like Mehdi, Sardar or Jahanbakhsh have more experience despite being (way) younger.

this is why i never understand people suggesting a Ghoddos-Ezatollahi central midfield partnership.

How does that work? I've seen Ghoddos play wing back but never seen him do central defensive duties

Ghoddos isn't the same player he used to be. Early on his career he was playing in very attack minded positions. But as we've seen in the limited time he's been getting at Brentford this season, he's solid defensively. He's aged like fine wine: he can track back, drop deep, defend, distribute. He's exactly what team melli needs in midfield and he gives us A LOT of depth there.

Now if only we can find some midfielder to replace Ezatolahi....if I have to see him slip while making a basic pass again....it's happened 4 times in 4 games.

I can't find such a thing for Iran games ever, its like only Europeans and S. Americans care enough to take the metrics..only things I Found which is grossly incomplete
