honestly I only recall a game or 2 seeing him in (ucl/euefa cup ?) action in his prime age .... but dude's class and overall pedigree as a footballer stood out to me like a sore thumb..!!

saw him in action last, in one of those Legends football friendlies with bunch ex EU superstars vs ex TM players (not too long before succumbing to COVID..?) and again next to AK8 he looked the most formidable footballer of all the homies who suited up that day ..!!

in my view, he certainly is the Best Overall LEFT Sided Midfielder ( LWB/LW) Iran has ever produced to date..!

yea missed much of those actions...

i was just warming back up to Persian Football after lengthy hiatus during my migration to States from Iran and being busy getting settled in to new life .... miraculous qualification to WC98 got me momentarily interested back in our football for a lil while but i didnt really become a full fledged follower of our football again until shortly prior to WC06 .... just about my join date to this site...!!

Apparently Uzbekistan played 4-5-1 against Turkmenistan based on livescores formation.

We CANNOT afford to leave Ezatolahi alone in the defensive midfield we need another DM like Karimi or even Cheshmi there.

They will try to play on counters so the defensive discipline of TM ESPECIALLY of our LB and RB needs to be great, we cannot have Hajsafi and Rezaian head in the clouds tomorrow.

Ezatolahi and Cheshmi do not compliment each other well, both are slow and the similar type of CDM. The reason our CDM's worked so well in the past is we had partnerships like Ando and Nekounam where Ando covered space, put constant pressure, and made tackles, where Nekounam made more passes and took long range shots. I actually think Nourolahi worked better as he had more "Ando" like features, and complimented Ezatolahi, but he is no longer in the squad. Given the shortage we have, having Hajsafi covering space would be much better next to Ezatolahi in my opinion, or even Ali Karimi.

Cheshmi is better to come out near the end of the game when we have the lead to slow things down.

This is why general has been playing Ghoddos deep in last few games. He's more of all around midfielder who plays from the back near Eza to stabilize defense and distribute. The problem is and will be Haj Safi...I'm of the opinion that we should play Sadegh on left side, he has the qualities to play there and can shore up defense and transition. Move HJ up or play Torabi in front of him for depth.
