I don't consider 3rd place match elimination game
not counting 3rd place match pk shoot out
IF I RECALL CORRECTLY
TM HAS NEVER WON A MATCH IN AC IN PK SHOOT OUT in elimination game.

GN had two options
1) go young and inexperienced
or
2) old and experienced
one option can maybe make us the champions now , the other would give new fresh faces for the Future TM and better options and opportunities for the players in the next World Cup ..
knowing the way GN operates, he doesn’t care about the future , he cares about the here and now ..
I personally see a team that can win all the group games , plus get to the QF with easy , I am just curious as everyone else to see how this team plays against a top ranked Asian such as S.Korea with a good coach such as klinsmann
the only thing that scares me is the depth of this squad is kinda low , you lose a Taremi or Ghoddos ,,, , then we are limited, we have no other options available to us……
i don’t blame Sardar…. He gave all he can sometimes players know when they done ..
He is a good player, but can he be a great player, a player that starts and plays 90 minutes at the highest level of European football , maybe or maybe not , …..
but GN didn’t do us any favors by his players selections at all , he could have selected someone that maybe would have been the next Sardar or Taremi,, or someone who would have been the next (khalizadeh or kanani) , but instead he went with washed up and oldest options he could ….
I dont think Omid ebrahmi or Karim ansarifared or rouzbeh cheshmi with all due respect should even me part of this squad anymore,…

Even if we look at this through the lens of “experienced players are better for winning championships”, and putting age aside, I think the main issue here is SPEED. Against teams like Korea or japan in final, we need speedy players or at least players with lots of stamina, specifically in the midfield. That’s why young players are not necessarily needed for this tournament, but stamina and speed is. If omid ebrahimi had the pace of Ahmad noor, then it wouldn’t be as big an issue. He doesn’t wanna play players that are under 25, that’s fine, but at least bring a couple fast players. Experience doesn’t mean nada when a 5’6 Korean/Japanese winger runs past you before you can even turn around.
TLDR: General chalemeydooni is going for experience, however he should have put more thought into speed, regardless of age

The only ones who took risks to bring in new players over established ones and build the next generation were Queiroz and possibly Daei
Getting a coach who thinks long-term is like gold dust

I don't understand the harsh comment on Azmoun.
People here agree we won't win the AC, we will probably exit in QF even before with the awful list of our sabzi foroosh.
Some were saying his euro career is over with Turkish club even too good for him next season.
He is right to fight for his euro career in a top club, instead of wasting his time for the beautiful belly of an incompetent, in the middle of awful players, for a competition that is already lost before the start

If CQ was in charge , everyone here would say that it was CQ who got someone rolling & boosted his confidence but because its GN an iranian coach no one even wants to mention this.
Again don't like GN but gotta give him credit for that.

…
More likely strategy to maximize our chances to win is breaking up the game, making it ugly, causing a lot of stoppages and scoring on a counter or setpiece.
