    Possibly controversial but....

Dorood mashtiha, I was thinking perhaps we could have a thread where we could discuss an opinion we had that might induce a debate.

I'll start: Mohsen Khalili, the ex-Perspolis striker was technically one of the best Iranian players I have ever seen and could have easliy played in a Champions League side. Derailed by a career ending injury he is my all time "what if" players.

Thoughts, and what are your possibly controversial opinions?

That the Georgian-Iranian wizard Mahmoud Karimi would have been the attacking lynchpin of TM if he was a red or blue

He should have been for Iran's Georgian heritage community what Ando was for Iran's Armenian heritage community

I remember him playing but unfortunately I cannot recall his style of play. He's the assistant coach of Sepahan atm.

in the west no one would have cared, Rooney of course slept with a grandma hooker whilst married and it didn't mean anything

But in Iran being caught in a brothel is the end of your career unless you are regime

                  Agree he was very good.

                  Some of mine:

Azmouns club career in Europe is not as good as Daei's.

It's not the Team Melli coach's job to teach our players how to play football, its the clubs/academy.

Zarrincheh is our 2nd best RB(after Mahdavikia) post revolution.

2018 WC team would beat 2006 and 1998 teams.

CQ still needed to start Ghoddos and/or Torabi for that to happen.

Trequartista who could also score. All-round forward and a totem figure who lifted the rest of the team

Daei is generally underrated in my view. I can't really remember Zarrinche as I am too young to recall his games.

Well most controversial opinion is that despite what women say, my dick isn't small and trash.

But if we're talking in a strictly Iranian football context:

                            - Hashemian is the third best striker we ever had (better than Sardar) and got screwed over by coming up during Daei's prime.

                            - Mobali was overrated.

                            - The best team in PGPL would barely avoid relegation in the championship.

Mobali was the best player in Iran aged 22. You don't get many two-footed, physical and fast, dead-ball specialists anywhere in the world, let alone Iran. When he first came on the scene his touches and movement sometimes outshone even Ali Karimi

12 goals and 15 assists in 2004/2005 - there aren't that many players in Iran who could compete with that, let alone a young player, he was absolutely phenomenal that season

It was one international coach who ruined him in the first instance, and the double whammy of him going to Persian Gulo . He never was the same player again
