Now if team melli players condemn this (which they will), and people go against them again, does that mean you give GN excuses for not advancing to semi finals?"
You are trying to draw a direct parallel but the main difference is it would have no effect on the psyche of the players because I expect the Asian cup will be a dead event with few fans and little media coverage.

This is the opposite of what TM faced in the world cup with every mainstream media organization breathing down their necks for political explanations and people tearing them down and cursing them out.

Couple that with playing the biggest game of your career with your own fans booing you.

My controversial take is that Mayeli Kohan is responsible for the reemergence of Iranian football.
The players he had the balls to introduce to TM all influence our football, even to this day.

of course our genius compatriots thought beating his teenage son was justifiable because we lost to Qatar, and he was religious.

Not necessarily disagreeing that his era saw the re-emergence of iranian football...

But also he came along at a time when we had three superstars emerging and the core of the team was the strongest it had been since the seventies

Prime Hosseini was better than the over-hyped Rezaei imo. Still can't believe he played in Seria A.

Also, it was tough for Mehrdad Oladi (the Iranian Wayne Rooney) and Xerez FC, was a big deal who fell through. Unfortunately, it didn't work but because his PGPL club wouldn't release him. Missing out on playing in La Liga must have been really heartbreaking ...
Yes! Nikbakht was a technically very good player and very under-rated imo. One of my favourte players of all time. Does anybody know what happened when he would miss TM games? There are many rumours, the lost passport being one of them. Nikbakht also had an Athletico Madrid offer.

Oladi RIP was like a Adel Tarabt style player, lots of skill but a gol-kochik player not able to transcend it into a high IQ football player like Karimi could.

Agreed. Shame about his character though.

Your points are valid, but the protest/revolution hurt I.R to an extent of no return, they are in a limbo they never will come back from, they collapsed in the vast society and they only remains right now politicaly because the outside worlds hypocrisy that feeds them, the question is not anymore IF but WHEN the total political collapse will come for I.R.

That IMO opinion is a victory, i will never belive that all these people died for nothing.

Whit this said, i hope we end our 47 year title drought this time, this AC feels like anybodys AC

TM offence wont be as easy to read and the combination of Ghaedi Taremi Azmoun aka G.T.A. will bring home the AC trophy.
Ghaedi should play a part for sure. Also, I predict a bad AC for Torabi, he has been quite poor for Perspolis recently. My line-ups in various games and scenarios:

                  --------------Azmoun-----Gholi-----------
                  ----Taremi------Saman------Torabi--

                  --------------------Ezat----------------------
                  ---Ehsan----Majidi---Kanani---Ramin

                  ------------------Beiro------------------------

                  --------------Azmoun----------------
                  ---Mohebbi-----Taremi------Gholi--
                  ----------------Saman------------------

                  ---Ehsan----Majidi---Kanani---Ramin

                  ------------------Beiro------------------------

All out if we are behind and Azmoun is depleted:

                  ----------------Shahryar----------------
                  ----Ghaedi-----Taremi-----Gholi----

One thing i have considered is if we fall behind:

Move up Kaanani as CF targeti and send some Ya Ali santis at him. I bet he will score a few goals as CF.

Sepas mashti. Yes, I agree, then Mohebbi with his pace would have to track back and help out at the back in these scenarios to avoid counter attacks. Taremi would also have to track back towards the centre in these scenarios. I would also take out Ezat and bring on Ehsan to just send in balls into the box to help Shahryar, and Kanani in various instances to score a header goal as well as help prevent counter-attacks. The headless chicken Mimo would also come in handy. This is my all out attack with 5-minutes left of the game when we have possession and want to lob balls into the box:

                      -----------Shahryar--Kanani---------
                      -------------------Asadi-----------------
                      ----Ghaedi-----Taremi-----Gholi-----

the last time Nikbakht was invited to TM was under Daei. He showed up late to the airport with no passport and was allegedly intoxicated.
Daei cut him from the squad then. He never really improved after that and his form dropped off.
there was also a rumor that he was a huge doper so he would find an excuse (fake injuries to miss major tournaments that would have drug testing. He never went to Asia cup 2004 or 2007, and also missed world cup 2006.

Agreed that the core emerged but besides Daei no one else would routinely start Bagher, Azizi, Mahdavikia …

he also put guys like Yazdani and Majidi in TM, even though they were maybe 18 or 19.

No one else had the cojones to do so. He was the anti-GN in that sense.

So so strange. The doping reason seems plausible to me, why else would he miss tournaments unless he truly is one of the unluckiest TM players of recent times.

Probably less controversial but Namjoo-Motlagh if born in Europe would have been an international superstar. PSG approached to sign him before his injury

                                Pious also

Our very own Looloo Goozoo summarises these in Iran's forgotten generation:
