i'd say that'd be bit too harsh.... i'd like to think that he was aware that this was a meaningless friendly hence why he risked and tbf the provocation for the foul was clear so a more sensible and just ref would more likely just yellow carded both players in that instance...?
besides i can think of at least 3-5 other useless squad players who'd be more deserving of a squad cut than him..!!

looks to me a versatile footballer who seems comfortable in defensive and attacking modes... does a lot of the dirty intangibles hustle plays on pitch that often goes unnoticed but still vastly beneficial to overall success of our team.... sorta like a bit cheaper version of young vahid amiri...!!

I only watched first half and Ebrahimi goal so can not comment about Asadi overall game, even though thanks to his physical presence we scored that goal! but Moghanlou had decent one, worked his ass off! And coaches see this and appreciate

I have no complain about GN forward line other than Karim! I would have probably picked up same players! But midfielder selection is very questionable!

Torabi form dropped badly even in PP
Gholi is not shadow player he was!
Mohebi is not consistent
Overall from having strong wingers , we are now struggling both in CM and wingers!

Burkina Faso was a tough team and gave Iran a good test. Definalty a useful game.

Some observations:

1. Passing is still erratic and is accidental at best and is often a hospital pass instead of a healthy one.Team needs to have a design and purpose for passing, and it doesnt have to require so much effort. Passing should be simple. Possession will be key against big Asian teams.

2. Our defense in the first half was very slow and didn't connect well with the midfield. That forced Saman to come back a lot which forced him to lose the ball and resulted in BF goal.

3. Saman's choice as a midfielder is wise but he must not be used as the stopper or the muscle man. His physique as we saw today could be a deficit. He has lost the ball in number of similar/identical situations in prior games both at national and club level.

4. The combination of Taremi and Sardar upfront is this teams greatest asset. Moghanlou and Asadi don't really have much to offer when paired with Taremi. Karim, although showing signs of slowness but could still be the sub in that last 10-15 min to replace tired legs.

5. As for the two new entrants, Saman Fallah looked promising but Arya Barzegar was way below expectation.

6. I am not sure what lead to inviting Ghaeidi and crossing Noor or not inviting Allayar. And I am not buying the argument that Allayar just returned from injury. Gholi was in same situation and got invited.

7. Niazmand is evolving to be the number one choice as goalkeeper, for me. He is composed, has better decision making when restarting the game and don't act as emotional as Beiro.

8. And last, our back line and midfield remain to be the biggest concern for the team. It is like the break system and the engine in a car that is not functioning as expected. You can still drive around but can't go for a long journey.

First half was good exposure to speed for our team.
we’re still very rusty and our defenders can handle content pressure. May have to resort to 3 man central mid with 2 real DMs versus better teams.
good pressing by the team.

2nd half was a wrestling match. Good physical test but no one in Asia is as physical as us except for maybe Australia so not that valuable.

all midfielders were either poor or invisible.

glad gn subbed everyone out. Can’t believe hosseinnejad got cut instead of Ghaedi.

We’re a wildly inconsistent team. We just have to be lucky now and hope the team stays lucky all while somehow gaining form in the next week or two.

for those upset about Asadi and his stomping. He’s playing in sepahan. The coaching staff there doesn’t know how to keep calm. Look how many reds they’ve collected in the league and ACL this year.


next game will be closed door and won’t be televised.

Taremi and Mohebi cant start another game together again. If Mehdi hates his hamshahri for whatever reason then that's fine but you can't translate that onto the pitch in this way.

overall it was a pretty good, semi-challenging tune up game pre-tourney .... next friendly should be handled like the palestine game... similarly start out with our best 11... hoping they can stamp their authority on the match and get comfy enough lead to start the subbing as soon as possible in second half ....!
for me a healthy Ramin is still a head and shoulder better option than mohaarami ... !! sadegh didnt show enough to convince otherwise..!
Majid should certainly get the nod over Shoja as starting CB partner to bus boy..!

Bey coulda done better on the goal conceded from quite a bit of distance ....still shows injury prone and nasty gRolling tendencies ..! i'd feel more comfortable with Payam as starter overall.... if i were GN, Id start Niaz at least in the first group match and if he didnt totally convince would revert back to Bey .... but i dont think i'd be too bothered if he keeps faith with Bey..!!?

Saeed look spry and in promising shape.... id expect a big touney from him...

Milad surprised me too today... i think hope he can perform similarly as today Confident and decisive on the ball during the AC..!!

i'd definitely dump out that joojeh Gay-eedi and bring back hossainnejaad or more LWB/LB reinforcements .... and instead shift Ehsan to a more CM/LCM position ..! he simply lacks the pace and combativeness for a WB position ... and we will badly need cover in LB spot if Milad gets injured or carded off ..!!
that new kid Aria looked still way too raw and Karim too can be offloaded from traveling squad if need be, so far as im concerned ..? I add instead another CB.. aref aghasi looked a well poised ans solid option the few times i saw him in action and that young under 23 CB who's playing in gutter i forgot his face..! )

regardless of getting outmusled on the conceded goal, Sammy still looked good in his ball distributionary role and transitioning our d to attack..!! we have none better.... and old man Omid proved still a reliable back up .... and the hell with ahmagh koor .... so far as im concerned dont want to ever again see him suited up for TM ..!

i'd transition Asadi to a more DM/CM role..!

keep moghalou in attack especially with so many questions still surrounding Sardar's fitness and longevity ..!! i'd use Sardar as need be 2nd half sub for the first two group games and unleash him as a well rested starter vs SK in 1/4 finals ... same with other key players .... like Saeed , Saman, ....

ARJ is still my favored RW starter even with all his silly turnover issues.....!
