The most glaring problem for me was when the team tried to play with a direct ball from the back line to the CM's in the middle of the field under pressure. Ghoddos gave it away in this situation for their goal but on other instances Taremi, JB, Ezatollahi all had bad turnovers with the team pushed up and a loose touch/dribble to make it an uneven counter. This is what will kill us vs any decent team. They need to be counseled to play these sorts of balls very sparingly and if they do to favor a direct back-pass instead of a turn into pressure.

But I think that should be the way of the future for team melli, playing the direct ball more to the CM from the backline.
These type of friendlies against decent opponents are invaluable to test these type of tactics. That’s how we can evolve into a more posession based team.
But you’re right: a loose touch, a careless pass, will immediately lead to devastating counterattacks from more superior teams.
I give Saman a pass for that mistake since it was a friendly, and he’s been so excellent. Also, I thought Ezatollahi had a good game. This game’s film can be a great teacher for GN, staff, and players alike. Playing more through the middle can be a process to be perfected with more friendlies of this caliber.
I hope against SK the team decides to add an extra CM like Ebrahimi and move Taremi to wing instead of trying spam 4-4-2 formation that will dissolve like my sholezard last night.
IMO another solution is to move Haj Safi to midfield instead of Ebrahimi, he's a better CM than LB and he works really well with Taremi (like Wales game)
I would personally play something like this vs SK:
Is the Indonesia game still happening tomorrow and will it be televised ?
It is on, and people are saying its in Channel 3 listings, but I thought it was to be closed doors and nothing more than a tuneup before the tournament.
