So, perhaps they did play with a combination of core and subs but didn't focus too much on scoring but rather on testing tactics. Selecting to play against two of Iran's opponents does raises question as if that was by design or was just based on availability of these teams.
That said, i dont put too much on the final score of these games. When Iran faces Palastine and Hong Kong, it will be a different day and different game and nothing from history will impact the outcome.

If we score in the first 15 mins of the game we will win by 3 goals or more. VITAL we get off to a quick start.you can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth

Outside of SK and Japan, when we have a comfortable lead we better sub out Taremi/Azmoun/Ghoddos. If they accumulate yellow cards/injuries then our tournament is good as done. We saw what happened last AC when Taremi accumulated yellows and could not play for us in the final match.Comment

There are so many things that have to go right for us before we can ever claim this damn cup after almost a half century. It feels like some kind of magic has to happen.
The unnecessary yellow/red cards can easily give us another disappointment. If I were GN (God forbids) I would have made sure this bunch understand that clearly.
No more pooladi behaviour please.
