Going into Asian Cup, do you feel more confident than 2015 and 2019?

I think GN is the best domestic coach in the current situation.

    But don't agree with this:

I personally think a semi-final finish will be a success. We have been used to discipline and a very strong shape and core for our team, and I think we have punched above our weight over the last 10 years with Queiroz. I am less confident with Ghalenoei, although anything is possible in football. How about you?

I think painting everything as a dichotomy is why we have the inbreds we have as leaders in Iran.

Of course I feel less optimistic...

Our best players are not playing at the top of their game. They are also 4 years older!

We had a drubbing at WC22 whereas we were one side netting away from beating Portugal and making it to the second round ina very tough group in WC18.

Our coach is not an experienced tournament coach.

Japan and Korean players are at a higher level than at any point in their history. Australia is also very strong. Saudi is playing at also near historical peak.

        But ......

we do have a good draw...all the way to SK...who are led by a very questionable coach...

and 26 players and 5 subs eases fitness issues for a long tournament a lot...this helps us more than the super fit East Asians...

And GN may be just the man to get some gheyrat and Hussle out of these boys... counteracting bad tactics and selection!

Think everybody wants revwngw after wc. Less pressure than the last few acs whete tm almost was expected to win it. With some luck and few breaktheough performances from some of the non yet stars and healrhy tournament rotation in the squad, we will have a good run. Mibarim

its not so much GN vs CQ im my thoughtprosec so i skipped the voring,, its more comparing expectations, stress and pressure. It wiöö be like lifting the extra weight and shoes from a race/track horse for the first time. Either jumps and blows it or has the race of his/her life.

This is one of the weakest, although most experienced, we have had in a very long time. It's going to be the last time this group will play together before the rebuilding phase
I am less optimistic about winning this edition of AC, but hopefully I will be proved wrong.
And I think the expectation of us not being among top 3 teams to win is a blessing in disguise. We will be underdogs against strong teams which will remove the pressure off of our boys.
            Let's go TM!

I had the most hope for our 2019 team, and considering how poorly they fared against a very average Japan side, I am more disappointed with them than I would be now if we don't go into the finals.

actually with less expectation I think we have better chances to win. thinking of all the Iranian drama and emotions and the experience from last wc in Qatar our team can keep their heads cooler this time.

Going into Asian Cup I feel sexy.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

I mean anything can happen in football but usually the players can't have conflict within themselves to get through the many psychological hurdles. Our players just have an insurmountable battle from that perspective which even one of the world's best sports psychologists and scientists canr really fix

An Iran who can be more single-minded will win the Asian Cup like Iraq did in 2007, but it ain't gonna happen with IR in power

if Ghaleneoi does make a miracle happen then I will immediately start crowd funding his statue, I will think about getting my first tattoo and I will personally apologise to the trolls on this forum one by one.

                        Tm players are more confident.

Australia have 1 player from 2015 team.

i feel less confident than 2019 (we were a far more legit formidable TM and coming off a pretty good WC showing) but bit more confident this time than the 2015AC..!!

my slight optimism this time mostly stem from knowing that even though we know that in terms of overall quality we may not be the best side in the tourney but the fact that even if we go out in 1/4s, @least we will go out Swinging .... !!

likely playing a far more more entertaining attacking football than the frequent ultra defensive, sorta boring periodic 1-0 Ws under CQ ..!!

what was so wrong with those games where Beiranvand didn't have to be tested, let alone concede three goals against a team we have beaten 10 times consecutively...?

Yes I did, and as I've said before, after the Japan game, the title was served to us on a plate, but the team choked and threw it away. Now, I have no more hope as this was the last stint for this generation and group as a collective unit. Same for WC2022, all that was needed was a draw to make history, boom they blew it. What does it matter if we beat Turkmenistan in the upcoming WCQ games? We'll get surpassed by nations like KSA and Qatar in no time. Wait and see.

I've cried for this team, my life has circulated around them and their schedule, but there's a limit to what a human can handle.
