Reflecting on the 2022 World Cup, even champions faced setbacks, the most prominent example was Argentina losing to KSA in their first game, yet went in to beat their next opponents reaching the final and beating the heavily favored French side, hence winning the title.

This serves as a reminder that adversity doesn't define the journey, it's the resilience and determination to overcome challenges that ultimately lead to triumph.

    Well said.

Also credit to HK for scouting us well and finding out weaknesses (Dealing with high press and lack of pace of our CBs + MFs) and their players trying their best despite not being as talented as ours.

I wish GN gets his head out of his ass and makes better adjustments next time we are in a situation like this in a match.

Next match is crucial for us in terms of confidence. They have a good manager who knows our players well. We can't have another performance like this again.

Simple summary, HK showed up with a tactic, just didn't have any sort of quality. We showed up expecting to win, and didn't try and stayed unfocused and careless throughout the entire game. We have zero tactics, and our "coach" other than yelling at Ezatolahi to hurry up when tying his shoes, did not provide a single piece of advice to the players.

We will probably play a similar squad continuing to rest Azmoun, Moharrami, Hajsafi, etc against UAE and then we can finally see our full squad.

We played shit but as some friends here said, it happens during long tournament. Important it is it doesn't happen during elimination round and we bounce back

            Solid game by Moghanlou!
Worked his ass off, created our two of most important chances!
            Topaye avalo zad
            Sarhaye avalo zad
He was all around, playing deep, creating space..
He deserved his place in starting line up!

Struggled against Malaysia and China in 2007, struggled against Hong Kong in 2024. Some things never change.

he deserves the koobideh - the best possible domestic coach for this $hitshow of a squad and he is genuinely trying his best

not perfect, but the only one who can manage squad fractures and media and still try to get some kind of result.

we are a long way from CQ era - quarter final will be a success.

                    Are you GN's publicist?

You've been repeating the same bs about him being the best coach in iran in every thread now.

As he has nothing to eat while watching the game, maybe he should read the live on the forum to find ideas he can't find himself.

Are you genuinely drawing parallels between our performance today and Argentina's match against Saudi? Yes, they lost that game but rebounded to win the World Cup. However, at no point during the Saudi-Argentina game did anyone utter phrases like "oh my god, these guys can't even string three passes together" or witness them aimlessly shooting the ball into the stands.

Their defense wasn't a spectacle of pathetic proportions either. Argentina displayed signs of being a quality team even in their defeat. On the contrary, watching our team today wouldn't lead anyone to think, "Yeah, these guys are a championship team just having a bad day." We struggled with fundamental aspects of the game.
In the beginning, there was nothing. And God said: "Let there be light!" And there was still nothing, but you could see it.

I wager I could have coached better than GN did today...parking the damn bus against Hong Kong.

                          Subbing Ghayedi OUT for Mohebi....
                          Moving Cheshmi to CB....
Ebrahimi and Haj Safi as midfielders...
                          Not bringing in Azmoun...
ZERO time for Gholizadeh who would have been perfect on the wing...

The proper play would have been to abuse the wings more not pull the wingers in where HK was more numerically superior...also why were our players so anxious? The amount of hospital passes I saw today was crazy

Seems like GN decided to remind those who considered us title contenders that our ceiling is quarterfinal

that's a random attack lol came out of nowhere - fair enough fella.

No I can't stand him, first time he was coach was a disgrace and I haven't forgiven him since, despise his face - I'm just realistic and after decades of watching iranian football i think being realistic and pragmatic and understanding where we are and what we have, and what Iran is like at the moment is better over being "We wiLL wINS thIS cUP beCAUSE wE nO LONger have QUEIROZ" like @miladb or peiman92 I'm just favouring that we should be honest and open about our talent pool in Iran and the situation of the country.

Maybe you feel differently, but please feel free to put me on your ignore list. Please....

BTW if Ghaleneoi is saying "every match is a final" and as a coach performs like this, then imagine the situation when TM gets to the knockout stages, let alone the fantasy of the actual final...!

Best to temper fans' expectations - "we are the underdog" always works well
