Iran vs. Hong Kong - [Match Thread] | Asian Cup 2023 | Friday, January 19th |
Haha, funny because that's why I'm asking, just to put my mind at ease. I've made a decent wedge of cash over the tournament and thinking of going v v HEAVY on Iran -1 handicap...
I did the same. Despite these odds, bookies in US are giving very good return for total goals scored. If Iran goes on a goal scoring run, should be nice payday.
Not because I think he's that much of a liability but more so because I imagine he will be told to intentionally get one so he serves his suspension vs UAE and comes into the knock outs with a clean slate.
you can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth
On paper a much easier game for us than vs Palestine. A win by a minimum of 3 goals otherwise alarm bells?
I dont think thats necessarily true. Beside if TM is going to struggle in a match I would rather they struggle in this one and win narrowly and get humbled. Later on we need them focusing and not taking our R16 opponents lightly

Ah, you're thinking like Jose Mourinho. Let's see if GN is playing chess, rather than checkers, on Friday.
What is exciting is that even if GN rests the usual starters and uses his B squad to start (which I doubt), I think we can still get 2-3 goals in the first half against HK. I think the team has this much confidence at this time. It's actually quite exciting to witness as a longtime TM fan.
Would AFC keep tabs on this kind of behavior and punish it?
Part of me vaguely remembers them punishing Uzbekistan for getting yellow cards on purpose
Good point. JM used this tactic in UCL when Xabi and Ramos were his players. The plan was actually executed beautifully and Xabi and Ramos just took a long time to take a free kick and got a yellow without risking a physical foul. But they all got fined.
Taremi and Azmoun want to contend for the top goal scorer prize. I think this will serve the morale of our the team too. As soon as they score I would switch to the following:
Rest taremi and Ghodos.. play sardar and ghaedi..keep Ramin on the bench still and then play Ramin and Taremi next game …we have plenty of talent and we are old so we need to make sure we keep the stamina for more important games ..
