Good game all things considered. Early goal helped a lot. You have to give credit to GN for putting so much emphasis on Saman, making him fix CM and putting so much trust in him. This is something previous coaches did not do and it was a big mistake. The guy is levels above anything we have in midfield, a true bazi saz. 3 of the goals today were solely down to him. Shame he did not call up hosseinNejad as at least we would have a bazi-saz replacement off the bench for saman in the last 15-20 mins of group games to get him some rest.

    Ratings:

Beiro - 7. Couple good saves, still don't think his game with feet is actually that improved, even if he tries to play it cool. One good exit, maybe could have been a bit more proactive on the goal.

Moharrami - 8. Great game by him. Involved heavily in 2 of the goals, very good in possession and solid defensively. Impressive and hope he keeps his spot as tournament progresses. Ramin is a better shout for the RW role in front of him.

Shoja - 7. Was having a solid game prior to injury. Nice goal. Hope injury is not that major.

Kanani - 7.5. Some good blocks, jangandeh, looked quick in moments that he needed to cover.

Hajsafi - 6. Solid first half bar a couple over ambitious passes, but then really poor especially late in second half. Palestinians had quite a few dangerous attacks down his side. Speed wise he is totally gone.

Ezatolahi - 6.5. Bad header on the goal but found him solid enough overall. Got sloppy in the second half like a lot of our team.

Ghoddos- 9. MOTM. Brain of the team on the ball and immensely influential off the ball. Covered a ton of ground, constantly popping up in the right place at the right time, first to many loose balls, made runs in behind. Really did everything. How this guy was given such little trust and instead somebody like nour who is 1/10th the player propped up instead is beyond me. Of course, playing all those regular mins in brentford certainly has aided his fitness, form, and confidence.

ARJ - 5.5 Hes just so bad in possession. Nice lay off on the ghayedi goal but if he performed even 1/2 how you would a player of his eu experience/pedigree to perform in front of a team like palestine he could have had 3-4 assists. Really how he messes up so many simple passes is beyond me. Helped defensively as usual.

Taremi - 6. Very lax game by him. Seemed like he was saving himself. Still had a couple very high quality runs/passes.

Ghayedi - 7. Nice half from him. Smart, quick cross on the 1st goal and a lovely one touch finish for the 3rd. For teams like Palestine, HK, and even UAE he is a reasonable option. Do not see him able to impact higher level games anywhere near as much, Torabi is a much better option then.

Ansarifard - 4.5. Beautiful finish and almost nothing else. Guy struggled to hold one single ball, clearly out of form, he has become so stiff and lost all agility. I think out of the 8 or so balls he was asked to hold up he literally did not hold 1. Rightfully subbed at half.

    Subs:

Azmoun - 7. Scored his goal, seemed a little out of sync but not abnormal seeing as he just arrived yesterday. Good that he got some mins and took some hard hits, thankfully none seemed major.

Majid - 6.5. Think he is getting unneccesary criticism. Defense went to shit bc of hajsafi, not majid. Some good aerial wins and a few times good step outs to intercept. Will probably get another start at least with shoja injury.

Mohebbi - 5. Couple good runs and a whole lot of awful decision making. General wont be happy with that. But I do not understand how he leapfrogged a much superior player in all aspects (Torabi) to be such a consideration for xi.

Ramin - N/A. Good to see he is fit.

Omid - N/A. Used all his "tajrobe" in that retarded shot at the end lol.

GN - 8. This was not an easy game as Palestine's recent results vs good opposition show. But he set up the team well, trusted the squad and got off to a good result. Could tell he was pissed at the drop off in the second half which he mentioned post game too.

Going forward would like to see introduction of Torabi, Ramin on the wings and elimination of ARJ and Karim (they play like 2 people who barely play at club level). Keep Moharrami at RB. Milad probably needs to be rotated with hajsafi who still looks suspect, or give Aria Yousefi the Hong Kong game there.

      - saman clear MOTM, another phenomenal TM cap under his belt

      - ghaedi’s ability to take on his man and use his skill and quickness to his advantage is exactly what we needed in the wing and he brought it. I was not a believer in him anymore but if he puts in more shifts like today the. I take it all back.

      - sadegh played a very good game. He was physical, went forward very well with some nice dribbles and passing.

      - JB was a mixed bag as usual….some good and not good moments.

      - Ezi I thought looked great in distributing the ball as he does in most of his TM caps. I will never understand why some out there hate on him but his physical presence + ball distribution in the middle is always solid and today he put in a decent shift.

      - overall TM’s pressing was great and it lead to creating several decent chances for us.

      - defense per usual has too many holes. I know today was a game where we go forward and attack to score lots of goals and make it entertaining and fun but the lack of defensive discipline under GN continues to be a problem. Recovering on counters and defending set pieces will be a big area in which SK and Japan can exploit us…..under Skocic that was also a big vulnerability and when our opposition watches the tape today, vs Uzbekistan, vs Kenya, etc. they will see the very consistent Achilles heel of TM that is yet to be resolved. if this were to miraculously finally get addressed by current TM staff then we can beat anyone but until that happens, as a fan, it’s hard for me to accept we are anything more than a semi final appearance at best.

        Thoughts:

        Good:

        - Good result
        - Too early to make any big statements but I for one am happy and the team looks pretty solid at the moment
        - Loved the heavy duty attack from the start
        - Ghaedi didn't kill me and did fine
        - A couple of decent team moves/triangles (not as good as Japan but still impressive)

        Bad:

        - Sardar looked in a lot of pain and if he's torn his calf again then that is crushing
        - That forum members haven't heard of Morjad

        Learning points:

        - Can we fcuk up this guy please:

Sick and tired of seeing his hezi seyedoona-lovin' handle in every TM thread on Twitter/X

Now we wait and see if Azmoun is actually injured?
Agree , it was a stupid move by GN. Spceially that he knew how wild palestinians were playing. If i was him i would sub out taremi and ghoddos for moghanloo and omid. Mohebi in for ARJ.

Mohebi is a decent player but for some reason GN likes to play in a wrong position (side) that he is not used to.

I be interesting to see if they will play rough or soft against UAE
Yes. But when they play each other the game is like watching Golf

And how frustrated is Taremi in the end, no wonder he hates him!
He had a defender on the side of him... Hence it was difficult to play a pass to Taremi. He should've still passed it but I don't think his move of going all the way to the back line and crossing the ball ended up being a bad decision!

If anything, blame that on ARJ for an absolute horrendous volley attempt!

dunno man, to me it looked like he had a few opportunities to pass back to taremi and his eventual choice of going wide was the worst option that no one expected. But maybe someone with better football analytical skills can chime in here.

I cannot believe it took TM 5 years to use Saman Ghoddos properly ... a big area where CQ failed. Where the likes of Ahmand Nourallhi were preferred over him.

We needed him from the beginning against USA.

I'm begging you guys to look at the actual stats of the match before making unfounded claims about AJ. He was without a doubt one of our best players on the pitch today.

Intangibles aside (literally teaching Ghaedi his defensive assignment on a set piece), he had one of the better pass completion rate, two key passes (assist and hockey assist), two good tackles in our own third, 70% ground duel success, drew the most fouls in our team, pressed very well, and so on.

Of course he made some mistakes, but let's try to judge players fairly.

He did a lot of good, but also a lot of bad

He constantly produces way too many turnovers and loses the possession of the ball way too easily. His finishing has also been quite poor. Look at the volley chance he had in the 70th minute! Completely scrubbed it.

He has an excellent work rate though and defended well, I will admit. I think he's also a bit out of form from not playing much football. I'd give him another start against HK to boost his confidence and keep going.
