Kaanani is actually pretty good when he doesn't have a mental breakdown, so far so good.

The Shoja-Kanaani duo was also an iron wall against Uruguay. They have good chemistry, that's the most important thing for two CBs

Honestly my advice to the folks here is this: temper your expectations as the next two games are probably our final game.

The reality is that GN has been in charge of TM for about 11 games before this tournament, and since day 1 we have seen that our defense has been shit when faced against a high press. We just break down. We conceded goals against the likes of Kenya and Afghanistan, so GN knew that our defense has problems. There has not been a single attempt to address any of the problems in defense in the last 11 games.

Uzbekistan and Hong Kong faced us with a crazy high press and slipped through us like butter. The next quality team with a high press that we face will beat us. I would not be surprised if we get eliminated in R16...

All other teams have got to do is flood the midfield with a high press. We have become a team of individual talent like SK instead of a team like Japan who has good team work.

Mentally the players need to respond.

If they think this is their actual level we are doomed. If they accept they played poorly and own up we still have a chance.

Cheshmi is useless outside of a 4-6-0 Burnley ****house park the bus or a 20 minute game closer.

Ezatolahi would make our team much better in midfield. Put a bulletproof vest on Ghoddos and him and hope they last 5 more games.

The problem is our players idiotic antics like Mohammadi swinging at the ball and skying the ball backward toward Beiranvand or trying stupid Pro Evolution backheels.

Keep the ball on the ground UNTIL the final third. We are in the top5 teams in technical ability and passing so act like it.

          he should have used all this time to incorporate these 3 players instead;

          Hazbavi, hosseinejad, and Abolfaz jalali

CQ recognized that we lack the ability to play well out of the back against good teams. He took an approach that minimized this and would choose our moments when to press and when to defend.

I think the best shot we have is honestly NOT to play out of the back, boot the ball up during high press, and go full on dark arts against Japan, Korea, Saudi, or Australia. Rely on counterattacks, long balls, and an aerial approach instead of trying to play out of the back and possess. Straight up our CBs and GK do not have the footwork OR poise to be able to distribute in a calm and collected way. We turn frantic and make huge errors. The one player I see who has that poise is Ezatolahi and Ghoddos and that's about it.

Simply put, we can't play very beautiful football against teams that press high and shouldn't keep forcing that approach if it isn't working.

Ezatolahi has been our best midfielder CDM the past 4-5 games. We don't have a better replacement than him. The rest I agree with you, especially Mohebi. He is genuinely PGPL level.

We have to remember we just beat Hong Kong 4-0 only 2 months ago in a WCQ game. That was with a ghalenoei coached team.

I think our poor performance was due to a combination of factors:
                1. Huge drop off between our starters and bench players
                2. Players thinking ahead
                3. Not taking the opponent too seriously

I think if we had our full A team: (no cheshmi, no moghanlou) we would’ve won by at least 3 goals. We played with our full strength squad against a good Uzbekistan in our WCQ game, and we played an excellent 1st half of football.

After the UAE game, we need to start playing our best 11, with razor sharp focus, and have a plan B if Ghoddos or Ezatollahi go down. Or else we’ll be screwed.

Agreed except against SK/Japan I would do the opposite. They are VERY similar to us in that they break when they get pressed high because everyone always lets them dictate the pace. We should abuse the wings and Saman for those games

Plan B is to sub in Ebrahimi, Ghoddos, Asadi, and every other 6'4 CDM to park the bus and call them goosalehs like GN did today

The performance and postcoments from GN was so pathetic and lame that i soon will belive that all of this was a bad early doroghe 13 joke to confuse all of our future opponents in the KO rounds.....
