If we win the tournament by these means I won't celebrate at all.

Guys who says we will beat UAE? The way we played against the king kongs we will definitely lose to AFC buddies for sure. If Syrian referee was returning some favors against HK it will be a different story when we encounter a major sponsor of the AFC and an Arab team.

But some here are living in the movies still... like every team who won any trophies was fair or played great Lol please look in the mirror more and see the lines in your faces as you are not kids anymore. See the reality instead of dreaming to be a FARDIN.

Every team has done it even those you consider as great teams cause if they don't win a trophy they are not considered good so hence "The goal justifies the means".

I say lose if it brings you booze ))

Anyone with even an ounce of national pride would never even consider losing a national team on purpose. We are not one of these arab teams.

If you want to become champion you have to have the mentality of a champion. Loosing on purpose when you represent 80 million people should never be an option.

This same group of players under a different coach played against Spain, European champs Portugal, and eventual World cup finalists Argentina.

I think they are mixing life and sport together.

every single team in their meeting rooms this discussion happens, which way to go base on choices they have in the brackets.decision is always made WHICH EVER WAY BENEFITS THE TEAM MOST

easier way on paper is number 1 choice.

either way tm will win r16 match.

then Question is japan or iraq? In qf

Match up well due to their speed.

Iraq on paper is rank 7 and tm can match up and will be favorites against the.

Please don't mix bussines and personal together.

unfortunately, our TM players don’t have the psychological training and expertise to not “mix personal and business together”. They will be emotional bulls in a china shop against Iraq. I can see many yellows and even a red against TM.

tm has better chance against japan than iraq?

similar thing happened in the 1974 WC, where the eventual WC champions West Germany lost 1-0 to a crappy East germany in the group phase, allowing them to avoid Holland, Brazil and Argentina, and instead got Sweden, Yugoslavia and Poland.

Not saying we should lose, but there are teams that have done it. Ofcourse in the case of Iran, the question is could the team put it all back together after such a loss .....

im saying we will be emotionally charged against Iraq and make more mental mistakes.

the concept of stats and “easier on paper” go away when we play them. Just look at our past meetings with Iraq.

Do the "job" Team Melli! (to use a pro wrestling term)

When a wrestler is booked to lose a match, it is described as "a job". The act itself is described with the verb jobbing, while the act of booking (rather than being booked) to job is called jobbing out. To lose a match fairly (meaning without any kayfabe rules being broken) is to job cleanly.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
