This was an excellent comeback performance by team melli against the toughest team in the group who had 12 players (UAE plus the ref).

In spite of GN's flaws, I thought he coached an excellent game with a very good starting lineup. We have to give credit to where it's due.

I am a fan of GN's idea of playing from the back, possession football, Saman as a central midfielder, even Taremi so far as an attacking midfielder is working well. However, he HAS to play more defensive against Japan/SK or else we will get smoked.

If he makes the proper defensive adjustments against those type of teams, the trophy will be ours.

UAE did not buy off the refs, they bought off Jahanbakhsh. The guy lost possession 3 times in 40 seconds. That must be a new world record. From 91:45 to 92:25.

No one should judge a player based on one appearance of course. But he has been doing this for quite a while. One out of ten games, he has fewer turnovers and may score a goal, but that does not justify the other 9 games.

time to start the Jahanbakhsh academy while he still has a good name.

Penalty for UAE could also be deemed ok, but it was a very harsh call, and a yellow for Kanaani was definitely too much.
3rd disallowed goal - they called a foul on Mohebbi in the buildup which was really just a UAE player running into him. Everyone was shocked that the ref disallowed it.
            Agreed 100%

Let's not get carried away with this result against a tier 2 Asian team. We should've scored more goals on multiple occasions, Azmoun singlehandedly missed at least 3 or 4 great chances that he should've scored on at least half of the occasion, scoring chances against the top tier teams would be more rare and if not scored on it'll cost you the game. Ezatollahi could not perform to any acceptable level filling that very important spot, Moharrami was careless and gave up possession in the 45 minutes that he played.. Ebrahimi had little to offer same in his previous outing..

Great talk, entertaining. Never seen this show before. Plz post more if there comes new episodes.
For sure. They’re chill vids and he compiles lots of clips from online so it’s good if you’re busy and can’t go through all the mini clips posted on Instagram or Varzesh 3. Here is another one from today where he goes over interviews after the match. He has this thing where he emphasizes the last word of most of his sentences and then pauses for a couple seconds every single time. Super fun

Good news!! Sadeghs injury was a precautionary and the initial knee to knee was painful which explained why he couldn’t walk it off. Majid will be good to come back vs Syria and Sadegh will be back for QF.

Regretfully‌, JHB has become a total liability.. i would leave him on the bench from this point forward. Not even a sub unless we are 10 goal ahead and there is only 5 min left.

Where did you hear this? You also said Sardar had a calf tear and out 2-3 weeks, which proved to be wrong.
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

You know I was thinking with Azmoun and Taremi as players, a lot of teams have won world cups or other important matches with this quality but the ISLAMIC RipOFF league has not won anything worthy with these magnificent players. Players like Taremi or Azmoun are even hard to develop in Europe but the IR has failed hugely with them and many others before them. The nature of the IR is losing believe it or not.

If UAE or Saudis or anyone else had them... they would have won big tournaments with them but the truth is that Iran is an occupied land hence we are as low as any 3rd world country can get and have no control over our destiny or life, but I hope Iranian people will get together soon to rid of this corrupted regime and start seeing some happy and proud moments in their lives because God knows that we deserve it a lot.

Guys, I rewatched the game. Shoja was absolutely sensational. He led the defence and was present across the ENTIRE backline.

On a sidenote, I think he should be our captain. He's mature, the team respects him, and he's a natural leader.

He's probably going to secure a big money move after the tournament.
