Remember when Cheshmi was injured in 2018 after Morocco game and CQ played a 22 year old Majid in his place... AGAINST SPAIN and he did just fine???

He could've played Khanzadeh or another old bum at CB but he trusted Majid and Majid played excellent.

That's one thing that I really wish GN had... More trust in youngsters.

we had literally 10 man for 90percent of the match parked in our defensive 1/3 of that match ...!! it wasnt that hard Playing CB with that much defensive support surrounding you even as a TM debutant....!
Under GN's open and supposed attacking system is a whole different scenario .... Majid been OK but hasnt exactly impressed so far this tourney and been given fair bit of chances too.... im not so sure who should partner up Shoja in CB ....?? but would guess that its up for grab spot in the pre-game training sessions..?
GN created the problem himself by not taking enough CBs in his call up list and by playing an already cautioned Kannani in a meaningless game, so he better address it adequately too or risk getting his asss possibly canned or at a very least bashed in media if we play haphazard and tokhmy like we did vs HK .... even if we squeak by narrowly against syria..!

The problem with Majid in TM is we play him as left CB, which he feels awkward in due to being right footed. If you watch him at club level as right CB he has much more technique and calm. I've been theorizing for a long time he feels awkward to be as technical as left CB in TM due to being right footed. I actually think that's why he's so much better at club level...

from my faint recollections he wasnt anything more than semi decent in minutes afforded so far this tourney..!!

woulda been hard to look all that good for any of our players in that chaotic HK game ... ? unless if you are GN and wanna use pure passing stats to support your view that it was indeed a commanding performance vs such a tokhmy opponent with mostly regular 1st teamers..!!?

yet Majid still needs to massively up his physicality and combativeness vs the narekhar size and rough-housing syrian attackers...!! im especially worried about their chances from CKs and set pieces

He's outplayed Kanaani and Cheshmi at CB. Only Shoja has been more consistent but Majid was definitely our best defender against HK and also played well against Burkina Faso.

Cheshmi? Cheshmi has played as a Defensive Midfielder for us in this tournament.

Burkina Faso is not in the tournament either.

Strictly in this tournament he has been tokhmi. Kanani has also been bad but the errors Majid has made have been so bad and comical I had a hard time believing what I was seeing. In the tournament, he has had some good moments and then ruins it with these random and very costly mistakes that will prove very costly us against Japan/Korea. Kanani is the same btw, he's been awful hence my posts about Kanani in this thread.

Btw, during the WC, I watched a lengthy TM training video and Majid was the best out of all our players in the drills. He is from a technical perspective one of the best Iranian footballers in our squad. But does that mean he was anywhere close to decent for us in this tournament? No. He has made so many kos maghz mistakes in the little he has played in the tournament and I am suprised you are saying otherwise.

The only decent defenders so far for us have been Shoja and Mohrammi.

His lineup picking has also been close to excellent. Introducing Ghoddos into the midfield, creating moharammi/ramin competition which has made both of them better, replacing ARJ with Gholi, replacing Mohebbi with Ghaedi. Eliminating slow Ali Karimi and bringing back experienced Omid Ebrahimi.

Only knock on him is lack of young player involvement which by his own words, he said he will do after the tournament.
