Haji Safi was excellent today. Our best player, but he can't handle Japanese speed and combination play.
Cheshmi even worse!
also this Mohebbi dude can’t start for Japan. My stress walk and cry the first time was from his antics. Also no more Cheshmi please

Where is that mentality coming from, seriously...
Japan is a good team, they've lost against Iraq and struggle in the group stage games, why are you shifting from over confidence to this looser mentality based on one game? Why being so emotional and draw black/white conclusions based on nothing?
Iran can beat Japan without any doubts, even without one of their main player. They only need to focus much more on finishing because that's really what they are lacking for the moment. Iran had 6 clear cut golden opportunities against Syria, if they would have scored 3, and won 4/1, you would have probably say that we will destroy Japan ? No, Japan game will be tight and difficult for both teams but we definitely have enough ressources to win that game as much as them.

LET"S NOT FORGET THE POSITIVES:
1. Team forged...
2. Torabi is recovering and maybe can play against Japan?
3. Ghoddos/Gholi will be fresh against Japan?
4. Those 5 penalties were unstoppable! Lots of practice and work goes into that...and it was without our chief penalty taker!
5. Yellow cards erased!
6. We survived our stupid blunder of the Tournament...we didn't in 15 and 19. Beiro gives a penalty and Mehdi get a Red!

Make jahanbakhsh a assistant coach and ban him from the field
He played well in this game. His defensive work was superb, and he didn't make any blunders. His passes were good. It seems most of you can't be objective about players, especially from game-to-game.
If you want to hate on anyone? It should be GN. We won in spite of that guy, not because of him. His subs this game were so atrocious that I thought he was purposely trying to throw the game. We are down to 10 men, and this guy subs-off our best chance at winning it before PKs (i.e. Azmoun), and puts on Karim? Karim is significantly slower and doesn't have the same technique or aerial presence. He also subbed off Ghoddos? And Ghaedi? Wth? He subbed off the heart of our midfield (Saman), and a guy who was continually breaking down Syrian defenders and forcing corners and/or throw-ins deep in their half (Ghaedi)?
Not to mention: once we run into a team that is quicker than us, and (at least as) technically gifted? **AHEM JAPAN** We are going to be forced to park the bus and play long balls. Why? Because we are fielding a team that is slooooooow. Japan will move the ball around us with good passing and superior movement off-the-ball.

Good thing is that Mehdy Ghayedi and Saman Ghoddos still have fresh legs for the match. They were taken off in the 60th minute. Gholizadeh came on in the 75th minute, so he should be good too. Kanaani has fresh legs.
Honestly, let's go out there and do it! Why not.

I actually expected such a shit show. We were already playing worse and worse in the group stages.
GN's coaching is good for our old ziresh bezan style of football. His subs are awful as usual. I believe that even with Skocic, we would have won that game easily.
The guys managed to get us to the penalties and were brilliant in it but before this, we were back to the time when our players lose their composure as soon as it becomes a bit difficult. Beiranvand's horrible challenge, Saeid Ezzatolahi's elbow (could have been a red), Taremi's foul (it was a stupid one).
Anyway, I seriously don't see how we can win against Japan. Let's hope for the best.
