The Tajiks I met in both Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (Tajik ethnicity Uzbekistanis which is a large group) were really obsessed with Persian history and culture.

A number of them consider themselves the true Persians which is OK because their persian language has less Arabic and other foreign words than ours does


I wouldn't expect every Iranian to cheer for them but those of us with Persian blood might be keen for them to do well

There are many Tajiks in Uzbekistan (and many Uzbeks in Tajikistan) and we fully support Tajikistan in this Asian Cup. If you noticed, Uzbek fanbase in Qatar is attending Tajikistan matches to support them while Tajik fans are attenting Uzbekistan matches. Uzbeks and Tajiks are culturally almost the same. They say Uzbeks and Tajiks are one nation - two languages.
