Do you genuinely believe they are stronger than 2019? On paper maybe but that's it.
They've beaten a lot of stronger teams than us recently and they are scoring much more than they did back then.
They don't have to shut us out just outscore us which they can easily.
They have Mitoma who is an actual X factor(who by the way will play on the ever defensively absent Rezaian's side).
They have speedy players on top of that like Takefusa Kubo(Real Sociedad), Ritsu Doan( Freiburg), Takuma Asano(VFL Bochum) who can also playmake.
Then they have actual CMs like Minamino(Monaco) and Wataru Endo(Liverpool) who playmake and enforce the ball.
The main concern is that they play very quick football seamlessly.
They might be possibly be countered by organized structure but Today, showed our coach has no idea about defensive structure which means most of our defensive plays vs Japan will be praying that Rezaian/Milmo/Hajsafi/Kanaani/Shoja win 1v1s against QUICK Bundesliga/La Liga players.
Also praying that Ezatolahi and Ghoddos will win against a Monaco+Liverpool matchup.
If we had positional discipline I would rate our chances higher but we don't.
You know what strategy won't work that General will try? Telling Azmoun to go solo into the box and head a cross alone between 2-4 Japanese players. This isn't a poorly dubbed version of Footbalist ha, he can beat himself over the head as many times Ashura style but aliasghari will not work against this Japan team. It is not 1986Last edited by perspolis#1; 01-31-2024, 03:37 PM.

Guys I've watched most of japans game and in MD their weakness is aerial balls. Why not place tall players in MD to block their possession. On other hand we've been hit from both right and left side. So why not start with central 3 defenders.
1.) The only way we could score is from headers from set pieces.
2.)Don't even think about attacking with more than 4 players ( Ghoddos - Gholizade - Torabi - Azmoun).
3.) Ezza and Assadi should stay back no matter what happens.
4.) Hajsafi should only join attack if there is space for build ups)
-----------------------Beiro----------------------------
Shoja-------Kanani---------Majid-------------Ehsan
Ghoddos---------------Ezza-------------------Assadi
Gholizadeh----------------------------------------Torabi
----------------------Azmoun-------------------------β
β
Subs:
Gholizade (if we need to score)
Ghayedi (if need to score)
Moghanlo (if need to score from headers).
Karim (if we need to control the game and score from headers)
Milad (if we need to defend when attacking)
Ramin (if we need to defend)
Omid (to control MD)
β
Choose 5 depending on the situation
reasons for line up=
Reza assadi is tall and versatile .
Ghoddos has played in brentford in that position . he is also versatile.
Shoja was outstanding against South Korea when played in that position

if you have followed and watched Japan's games carefully, you would notice that they build from the backβ, they take advantage of space in the middle and often explore the flanks with their quick one touch passes. Most of their goals are initiated from the wings. If you disturb their build up process early on they get confused and make mistakes. Iraq and to some extent Vietnum did exactly that. They brought the back line of 4 closer to half, crowded the midfield and pressed really hard up front to close spaces and prevent the build up. That organized japanease team all of a sudden transformed into an error prone team with panics in their ranks specially in their defense line and goalkeeping which happen to be their weakest links.
If you sit back deep they will do what they did to Bahrain today and they are very good at it. Iran would need to watch and analyze the success of Iraq against Japan and translate that into a strategy and tactics that our team can implement. The advantage we have is Japan only follows one tactic and once that is disturbed it will have no idea how to switch to something different in the middle of the game.....Again, games with Iraq and Vietnum did not happen the way they did for no good reasons. If you study them they attest to what I just explained.
.. And if someone (Oracle) can send this to GN in a language he understands, we might have a chance. Otherwise with our back line we are screwed just like last time.

Mr hezbollahs speed will be very important for us, we badly need him to play against Japan
I would rather have an extra defender to back ramin up. also another tall MD to back Milad up.
Look at the goals we've conceded so far.....you'll think twice with that line up.

Pack the midfield to clog them up and handle their speedy wingers with speedy wingbacks. Hajsafi as inverted wing back. We need to frustrate Japan this time, not play as open as last AC, and try to get the game to penalties where Beiro will beat the Japanese kid
There's a reason why some of us thought a penalties win after 1-1 draw today could be possible and others said we would never do this against a third place side. "Have some faith"
Too many TM games agha... We've been down this road many times before

If they ask me, before anything else I'd say dont play cute. You get the ball in a good position on the 18 yard line, try to bury it.
This tikitaka type of goals is not for us.
against Syria, on three occasions of the 1-2 through ball we saw, the passer had a good sight of goal (especially JB's to taremi where JB should have shot the ball).
I dont know if it was overcofidence or presence of female fans or just arrogance. Whatever the reason for getting cute, should be discarded against Japan.

We need maximum ****housery to commence regardless of whether we play open attacking or cagey.
Need to get into Japan's head and make them lose to themselves.
I'll start.
Japanese midfielder in the squad is accused of sexual assault.
Need to distribute it to all global news bodies to distract them.

And can someone tell this little brain Beiro stop doing those dumb pauses and all risky foot work he does. Every time he passes the ball he puts someone in trouble. A few turn overs because his not so smart play. I know he some times saves penalties but I prefer Payam to this guy any day. He is a risk!

Return of Mitoma - Japan's player of the year, from injury, in the last half hour today
Even though he is Japan's strongest attacking threat, Saman put him in his pocket earlier in the season as left wing back for Brentford
Saman and Milad behind him would be a sturdy bastion against him, with Hajsafi as inverted wing-back/LCDM providing extra cover
https://twitter.com/EnjoyFootball_J/...ugYsSv0Vw&s=19
look at the miss though! Imagine if Korea had finishers of the calibre of Hwang (also Son)
