On paper, the path to beat Japan is relatively simple. Crown the middle of the park to stop their interplay. Don’t push the wing backs too far forward to get caught on transition. We lost our focal point with interplay with Taremi being out (he is involved with all passes between Ghaedi, JB, and especially Azmoun). Therefore we have to focus mainly on crossing the ball to use our height. Crosses to Azmoun or our CBs during set pieces is our path for winning. Last other option is long range shots against this weak keeper.
Possession, build up play from the back, and far up wingbacks are NOT the way to win this game. Cross and long range range shots only. Don’t complicate it!
