he is a brilliant team picker..!! hardly ever have i been totally dumbfounded and nor completely disheartened by his starting line-up choices..!!
still needs to work on his game time adjustments and subbing decisions and hopefully start to show some more love for the youngins and the future growth of our football..!

and definitely needs to polish up on his media appearance maturity levels and general thoughtfulness in his remarks and general public speaking skills ...!! i think much of the fans hate towards him stems from the sheroverayee ke too microphone mizaneh..!!

    Ardeshir 4 TM...!!

All of us who criticised him over the years knew and kept saying he is literally the only domestic option for TM coach, we have no one who can operate and still handle media and have at least a semblance of unity in players.

Even then I didn't expect him to beat Japan. Damesh garm

Not really - bases on the poll he had already met our expectation which was QF. A loss would have been expectation for any half decent coach in the current context

Can't believe it, but I'm eating a big slice of humble pie. There wasn't a bigger CQ fan than me. It has nothing to do with progression to the semis, to win a tournament you need a big slice of luck, arguably CQ never got it, HOWEVER, the way TM is playing now, I have to say GN dooset darim! I was wrong and let the emotions get the better of me.

How many teams have won a tournament by playing beautiful, flawless, fast flowing football without putting a foot wrong, probably none, so I don't know why we would be different.

Enough chat about winning it, we have a semi against the hosts to navigate past first! IRAN! IRAN IRAN!

Dorood bar shoma. I was a Carlos fan too but this TM is something else. This style of football if something else.

we came back to tie a couple matches but can't remember a comeback win yet:

                      vs Senegal 1-1

                      Portugal 1-1

Tbh we didn't lose many matches or get scored on often under CQ either (I don't count the bad showing in 2022 as he didn't stand a chance of implementing his tactics properly 1.5 months before the world cup... Was our federations choice to take such a last minute Gamble and we all saw the consequences)Every coach has their ups and downs.

Great work by Ghalenoi in this tournament... He's definitely proven me wrong so far but I'm still waiting to see what happens vs Qatar and hopefully the final, before fully judging.

He's done enough for me not just beating, but outperforming, a Japan team which was considered by far the tournament favourite, for the first time we have done so in Asian cup knockouts, with less time off after a 120 minute slugfest and without our star player

I always criticised him but within the latter context, i have to say this is already the best post revolution Asian cup performnace. Anything else now is a bonus, but obviously a trophy would be phenomenal

That's the problem of meeting Japan in QF. This early final just shadow the rest of the competition. We are 3 days after Japan game and 1 before SF and most of the talk are about japan than the SF. Yesterday, Azmoun was on TV3 talking and joking about Japan games.
Let's not exagerrate and make Japan bigger it was, lost to Iraq, not convincing against Vietnam..We weren't in a much better position but at least we had nothing to lose.

We only lost once to Qatar in almost 20 years, and almost beat them each time since then. I have seen so many time a team beating a favorite and losing after to a weaker team. It would be terrible if we fail against Qatar and the proof all these was just a one shot, cinderella run.

About the best post revolution AC, why? in 2004 we also beat a semi finalist SK in QF and reached SF too. 2004, AC was 16 teams and more competitive than a GS with HK, palestine, UAE.

Yes he's definitely impressed me and the Japan match is the Pinnacle of what he's done so far. I just meant that I'm waiting to see if we stay consistent until the final as defeating Japan wouldn't be enough if we still mess up vs Qatar or Korea , should we get there.

We've all seen TM play a great match against tougher opponent, then play much worse following week vs much weaker side.

I'm hoping we're past these annoying inconsistencies.
