We have to play our game today, we can't be arrogant, just play focussed and with intensity. If we keep that in mind, then we will win this trophy because of the quality of our players, as we are better than both Qatar and Jordan. Qatar and Jordan can only be dangerous if we don't play to our capabilities.

Regarding Ghalenoei, I have to say that I have learnt something, I have always been critical of Amir Khan and I will continue to be critical in the future as I am with every coach. However, two and a half things must be emphasised.

1. Amir Khan chose the right game plan against Japan, I can't believe people are criticising, why did Iran play long balls? It was obvious that this caused Japan massive problems from the moment we overplayed the midfield, where we are simply weaker than Japan, and played off our physicality.

1.1 That won't happen to the same extent against Qatar, we'll try to attack via the wings again with regular interplay, the quality of our midfield is absolutely enough against Qatar.

2. for a long time I had wondered why Ghalenoei had changed so late in the Japan game, but here he showed good quality, he realised from the game that the teamwork worked well, he simply didn't change because he realised that Iran would win this game with the 11 players that were there. He realised that these 11 had a huge momentum and he realised that a change could disrupt this momentum. That was an OUTSTANDING move by Ghalenoei, that he read that out of the game. I think you should give him credit for that. If we win this game today, I'm convinced WE WILL BEAT JORDAN! We are no less Gheyrati, and Jordan only come through Gheyrat, but we bring additional experience and quality in all positions. So go out there and win the trophy. We were never closer to winning this Cup since 1976, like now, we have to bring it home, nothing else.

good post however i dont agree with the bold ... Sure we were dominating and he didnt wanna risk screwing up team chemistry...!! but Japan were simply shock n awed in 2nd half mostly by our boys Gritty/Gheyrati play and were there for taking, he too a huge risk of taking the game to OT by not subbing in a couple of attacking/wing attack reinforcements to finish the job in regulation ... we got super lucky with the Late Pk , No telling if Japan woulda taken advantage of the break in action to come back at us hard in OT ..!! also it was dumb of him to sub out Sardar and Saman after we scored the PK.... What if Japan had equalized in lil time left ? then what..?
his game time decision making, thought process behind subs/ timing of the subs Still leaves a lot more to be desired..!

hopefully he is kept at 10 and Taremi pushed out wide Left where he is well experienced and comfortable playing alongside sardar..!

my main concern is Omid ... does grandpa have solid legs to stand on as a starter after busting his ass for 95min 3 days ago..?? 😬 he is damn quality footballer but has slowed down considerably naturally with age and was huffNpuffing late on vs Japan..!!
