Taremi wasn't running as much as Mohebbi in left which created lots of gap between him and Hajsafi!

Don't mean to pour salt on the wound but in the 48 years that we have choked at AC this was by far the easiest opportunity we had to make the final and lift the trophy.

And we manged to Fcuk it up.usual.

1980 semi final loss against eventual champions Kuwait was tough - this was before Kuwait used to beat us in the following decades. The revolution had just happened though, otherwise iran would have got the fourth consecutive trophy 100%

the semi-final losses in 1984 and 1988 both times against eventual champions Saudi were painful but not as easy as this one. yes since 1980 this was the easiest opportunity

I literally can’t understand how Jahanbaksh’s shot hit the INSIDE of the post, and bounce out. The angle it hit and it not going on is honestly mind blowing, I literally couldn’t think of anything other than a curse or bad energy either. I’m not into superstitions but we somehow always end up so unlucky on top of everything going wrong

Because our defence was trash this time. With all due respect, CQ was a coach who was too conservative and often chose a match plan that was too passive in the significant games, but I can say one thing, I had my peace of mind for 8 years because of a stable defence.

CQ games weren't always pretty, but there was a system, we were disciplined and had a game plan. We haven't lost a competitive game against Qatar since 1997 and then something like this happens to us today after we beat Japan, a strong Japan who beat Germany, Spain, Peru, Turkey and forced the World Cup runners-up into a penalty shoot-out. We won against this Japan. I ask you, how can there be such instability?

This is the dark side of Gheyrat, Tokhmibasi Irani, a rollercoaster of performances, one day we play like Brazil and the next day like Sanat Naft. I'm just fed up with it, we've regressed. I also don't want to ruin the achievements of previous generations!

But this comparison with the victories from 1968-1976 is completely nonsense, we were just as disorganized and tokhmi back then, only back then there was little competition in Asia, we won tournaments in which sometimes only five teams took part with no finals.

When we actually played against the world's greats at the World Cup, they showed us Iranians our place. The fact is, our generations since the 90s have all been good teams that are neither mentally nor qualitatively weaker than the teams that won the Asian Cup.

Only football in Asia has developed steadily since then, and it has become increasingly difficult for Iran to follow this pace since then, same with South Korea. We are a formidable Asian team, but we have to learn to play systematically, Gheyrat, Ghalb, and all these virtues are not a system. They please us because we Iranians are people who value such virtues, but these virtues only worked back when Asia still consisted of Burma and North Korea.

i have given up on AC. i mean we beat japan and lost to qatar in SF. we wont win AC for next 100 years. only chance is if new government comes and we host an asian cup. otherwise we are better off focusing on round of 32 knockout in new tokhmi world cup.

next AC we probably lose to australia or something in quarters. this is the worst AC loss since 2004 china. maybe worse, probably worse. because we would have played japan in final for that game and not jordan lol

why do team melli fans always say this? during syria game people said thank god when we almost loss at least we wont get embarassed vs japan! guess what we beat japan. just lots of bad luck today and bad lineup. with normal lineup we beat qatar and jordan for sure. the asian cup was gifted to us and we said no. im going to be sick for a long time
