Really gotta give a shout-out to Azmoun, a center striker goal poacher like him is RARELY involved in passing plays , let alone assists. The assist he has given Taremi and Mohebi have been world class.

Not many ST in the world like him to have an unreal goal scoring record but still not selfish and with a delicate pass to lead to clutch assists. He is a unique player. We really are spoiled to have both him and Taremi up front, in their peak, and linking up well.

we are just used to seeing Azmoun or Taremi score or assist every game, but in reality they are the first strikers we have that have done this since Ali Daei. Reza Gucci was great but only for a limited time for us. These guys have been around for years and we are jsur used to having goals every game by them.

Qatar will be a hard game but they played 120
min today and are not as good as Iran.
Iran will make it to the final, i would love to see us play Jordan.
But football is dangerous, Qatar is at home ..

Qatar is a team that you score 2 goals against them there is no comeback they will crumble …

early goal, and no stupid mistakes we win this game easily ….

yes they will have VAR(Video Arab Referee) on their side but we need to make it a super clean game so they can not use that against us…

We are destined to get to the finals and win this thing … let’s concentrate now that we are so close and finish it out

I really want to face and beat Klinsmanns in the final..

Qatar is a three-trick pony. Al Moez Ali, Afif, and Haydos (who is getting old and isn't what he used to be). Big plus that Pedro Miguel, their key fullback won't be able to play. Much better to face them on paper than an all around balanced and committed Uzbekistan team. They have defensive liabilities all over, their GK is very inconsistent, and those are in our favor tremendously thankfully compounded by Taremi being back in the lineup to wreak havoc over their backline. Similar to the Japan game, really have to keep testing the goal keeper and make him work - we already put 4 past him so it's possible, though given it's a semi final and there is a large home crowd they will be extra motivated to perform well.

Things to seriously watch out for are committing no silly mistakes, no fouls, no harsh tackles worthy of send-offs, watching our line to prevent offsides - control the controllables, so there are no excuses for them to pull some shenanigans in the VAR room. That is something that is simply out of our control and we must compensate for that through a flawless on field performance.

Luckily our boys are very used to Qatar already so I don't think the atmosphere will be too hostile, also given that we have thousands of die hard fans in the stadium who will be there in support.

The circumstances of this edition of Asian Cup for us reminds me of our Asian Cup 2004 in China, where in Semi Finals we faced the host China. We were over-confident that we would bag this match at ease and conveniently crush the Chinese team, only to find ourselves entangled I. The heat of the match, in a hostile stadium and of course the ref favoring the hosts. Of course as you all know we lost that game in penalty kicks. Yahya Golmo's untimely chip deprived us the final against Japan.

The moral of the story, NEVER underestimate any opponent, no matter how weak/weaker they may be. Team Melli has proven to be more vulnerable against the team it underestimates and has little respect for…

^ I thought about this too and I think we should not take this game lightly. Qatar has everything and specially the AFC behind them but like against Japan we have to create our destiny ourselves and totally ignore the negative energy. Let's just work as hard as required to go to the final. We can do it but we have to make it happen.

After this tournament we need to start building for the nextWorld Cup and some players need to retire so that the new generation coming through have a chance to play so they can at least have some cohesion and experience. And lead us to the World Cup. These players should all say their goodbyes.

The only things going against us are - being too complacent like you have all said, and the game being bought $$$. I think the complacency issue will be solved because they know it’s do or die, they are so close to actually winning this darn thing as opposed to a WC group exit, but the refs and the Qatar money… that’s what’s been making me anxious today

Shoja, Ansarifard and Hajsafi should be brought into the fold as coaches after they retire.

I'm not ready to see them go!

‘I think there is still a place for Shoja on this team. Centerbacks generally can still play into their mid thirties. Everyone else has to go.
