Maybe but they put Japan under a lot of pressure. It was clearly a tactic to try and capitalize on the aerial dominance we had in any way possible. While Japanese defended most of the throws well the cumulative effect of having to set up and defend so many definitely contributed to our domination in the second half (Japan has to pull everybody back into their box, set up defensive coverage schemes, etc)
eventually from long diagonal in the air they failed to clear their lines and we got a pk

I'm not discounting either qatar or jordan. But come on. usually the semis are vs. top professional, well organized and experienced teams like SK, Jpn, KSA, ... .
Neither jordan nor qatar are on par with those teams.
If we let this chance slip, through complacency or overconfidence or just simple laziness or lack of focus, we can never forgive ourselves.
I doubt ever again we'd have such a route to the trophy.
Just as long as we make use of all our experience, talent and stay focused for 90+ min (even if the refs get in our way)

Saeed's comments were out of line. Doing that only will antagonize Arabs and AFC even more, not to mention not even true since being Arab doesn't appropriate to being anti Iran on the field. The ref is of Iranian origin anyway. So inappropriate to say in a press conference. Please only have Alireza talk at these events, he's the only one with a measured, smart approach to the media.

I have a bad gut feeling about this one, I had a similar feeling before the Syria game. What is common to both is that there are psychological elements to the matches that no matter how much the players and staff will deny their impact, are ever present and will work against us. Against Syria it was this focus on the QF game before we got to it, as well as playing into the hands of an underdog team that was looking to add to the trend of upsets. Against Qatar is the fear of non-footballing impacts on the match, which clearly has already gotten to the players based on Ezatollahi's comments. They need to just keep their head down, play a clean, physical, hungry game and leave no room for doubt in the game. This same exact Qatar team got thrashed by us a couple months ago in the heat and I worry that may also lead to underestimating them. We need to treat Afif same way we did Kubo, with defensive reinforcements and constant physical harassment. The key to this game will be how our forwards link up and take their chances. When they lose focus and make poor decisions like they did against Syria, it will start to shift the momentum against us. Lets get a goal in the first 30 minutes and we will be in good shape.

Best for our players to not worry about Arab vs Persian gulf. It is not your job. Your job is to win
our Boys just need to focus on the game, we are easily more talented than either of these teams and can beat them handily. We should however not underestimate as they will fight tooth and nail to beat us. First thing first focus on Qatar. Jordan game will be a war but we gotta focus on Qatar as the stadium will be hostile. The 4-0 means nothing . Have to win this one in first half

As much as I appreciate the discipline and organization that CQ brought to TM in his first stint, it is the results that matter. Both Skocic and GN got results. That is what matters. The rest is nothing.Sign this petition to show opposition to US/UK support for the Rajavi/MKO cult

The Syria game was a blessing in disguise. Players wont make the same mistake, being the second game also helps.. seeing Korea lose to Jordan will make them more focused and less likely to take Qatar lightlyBookmark the PFDC Calendar for TM & WCQ games
