Yes exactly. Before the game i said we should only use tall players in this game and i knew it would work out. I watched them against bahrain and Iraq and they lost 90% of aerial balls. It was crystal clear that we can only win it by making the game physical and set pieces . I was very surprised by that mohebi goal tho, I can't lie.

I've been saying from day one that mohebi is a quality player. GN just use him in a position that he is not comfortable with.

Will just rate the highlights because the whole team deserves a 10 for that performance. 10/10 effort, passion, desire, willpower. They won every 50/50, were disciplined in both phases of play, and played unselfish.

Ghalenoi - His best tactical game. Reinforced our midfield to try and break up the fluidity of Japans preferred style of play. Played to our strengths by going for direct balls straight at Itakura and using both Saman and ARJ in a creative way, having them create overloads and drift relatively freely into space. He stuck to his guns when he saw the pressure and momentum the lineup the creating and didnt make a single sub, which is ballsy considering the risk of fatigue but also allowed the team to maintain momentum and did not disrupt the trends in play.

Azmoun - Won aerial duels in first half but struggled to get involved. Then second half, he looked lethal, great ball control, won so many aerial duels, had an incredible header that could've slotted into the top corner, beautiful play on his marginally disallowed goal, beautiful assist.

Mohebi - His best performance in a TM jersey. Incredible defensive work rate, he provided so much cover for Milmo and somehow had the stamina and legs to make countless runs forward behind the defense. Bullied Itakaru and Maikuma, made timely runs, was more intelligent in his decision making, could've had a headed goal if just slightly more accurate.

ARJ - Incredible defensive workrate, did well to contribute to the midfield battle, was smart in cutting out passing lanes and physically imposed himself on Mitoma in the second half, effectively shutting him out. So fitting that he bullied the Brighton man, you could see what it meant to him. And of course, an inch perfect and confident penalty when it mattered most.

Great Game but not everybody was 10/10.

If i was coach i would have subbed Mohebbi out, sometime in the match Ebrahimi..... Beiranvand is an ok goalie and not more .... i still dont get why you dont use your subs, a fresh Torabi/Hajsafi/Gholizadeh .... but great overall im very happy.
