i sure woulda brought on Gholi or possibly even ghaedi ..? instead of Asadi ...!!
gutter was parking too many numbers in and around their box and we needed someone with good technicality to penetrate their d force a foul/pk or push a pass for tap in..!!
GN instead opted for another narekhar, hapless tall-figure to send aimless high balls to for the finish ..!

        Ramin will be 36.

Taremi technically won't be 34 until after the WC has ended.

tm being mentally fragile isnt just with arab teams. i dont think you need me to mention all the games under cq where we crumbled.. again its not the managers fault.

Any player over the age of 30 that has any dignity should retire today after what they displayed.

Anyone with a memory from 1979-2011 knew this is Iran’s destiny. Best part, Ghalenoei will probably be rewarded for this performance. We didn’t deserve to beat Japan. That was one game of luck, otherwise, we’ve been unimpressive for the other games of the tournament. This was Skocic 0.5 (I can’t say 2.0 because this was half as good as Skocic would’ve done). People who just look at results say “wow, we’re on an X game winning streak against the donkeys of Asia!”

Learn to pay attention to the on-field product. We didn’t play with any plan, and like South Korea, talent only gets you so far. We had no plan to switch to when luck went against us today. Against Japan, aliasghari long balls worked. They were not working this game at all, and we got lucky for the penalty gifted to us. We were bad and couldn’t score from open play. Our luck ran out, simple as that.

Edit: if Ghalenoei isn’t fired this week, that will tell you all you need to know about IFF. We learned we are no better on the field with vatani coach, but at least we can develop a new generation with a proper, quality coach. This generation squandered the last chance at glory, very sad. Hopefully Taj givehalenoei his termination papers asap and brings someone like Renard in. We need to start early.
Lol stop it with CQ. Two shit coaches outperformed him. First Skocic showed this guy is overrated af. Got fired for bs reason, people saying it was luck. Now another shit coach out performed him.

Not that we have had any better coaches, but CQ is also a nobody im todays football. Hasn't achieved anything with any team, aside from youth teams.

Almost worked, Qatar was shitting their pants near the end evert time some long bs ball came there way. JB with his signature bad first touch almost even scored because Qataris were losing it and didn't block his shot.

Going to watch highlights later but from what I'm reading I know these players are scores better than laymen but I would have no problem getting under their skin if I tried when playing them.

Before we hire a coach we need a sports psychologist 24/7 call.

They were not mentally in the game, it all started with complaining about the ref's nationality and continued about complains that only 1000 ticket were allocated to the Iranian fans. We need to adjust our attitudes and psychologists to handle our players. Age and players are irrelevant, lost to Japan in last Asian Cup as all players started to run to ref to complain and this time seemed to also be about trying to find someone to blame instead of focusing on the game.

Hard to cope, I need to find time to read all the posts here. But in the end we lost the game to ourselves, not the ref or Qatar.
What is hardest to live with is the fact this was the last chance for this team/ generation. It's over...

all this TM manager talk is just like whats happening at my club man utd. changing managers but keeping the same crap players. agha einstein che goft? the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different outcome.

The total tactical and mental meltdowns were bad enough. But what hurts most is they wanted it more than us today. A Qatar team littered with mercenaries. The intensity, winning of second balls and being in the right position for the lucky breaks comes from that. How many 50:50 tackles or even loose balls in our favour did they win today? Was it nerves? Shell shock from Qatar’s front footed play? Complacency after going a goal up? Who knows, but it seems to be there remains an inconsistency in the mental preparation and application and an over reliance on emotion and spirit rather than in game focus. Some of this I suspect came from the referee chat. We never learn.

Hard to pick out individual players with so many poor performances. But I will! Because it’s only right to do so when we praise them for their good games. The lack of fight for me was summed up by Ezzatollahi. Weaker in so many duels, slower to the loose ball and I’m in no doubt that he would’ve thrown himself and got the block in for their second goal were we playing Japan or Portugal.

Others have said it, but I’m not sure what instructions were given at the start. What was that structure in and out of possession?? Was Taremi given a free role to disappear from the game? He certainly wasn’t drifting in from the left. He wasn’t pressing their right full back out of possession. He wasn’t combining with Azmoun through the middle. He wasn’t combining with anyone else for that matter.

Saman’s first half was just as bad, if not worse. Ramin got totally found out today. His body shape defending their second goal was schoolboy level. You could say he was unlucky playing them onside for their 3rd goal with the deflection, but these are the margins that decide tournaments.

After partially fixing it with the introduction of Mohebbi at half time - an injection of drive and desire from the left, GN’s 2nd half subs were a total slamming of the panic button just when we needed calm assurance and instructions from the bench. We needed the coach to introduce more technical patterns of play, ratchet up the pressure and be less predictable with some options other than long throws, long balls and crosses from the right. I felt sorry for Gholizadeh and Ghaedi having to watch that from the bench, with their quality we could’ve built the pressure slowly and had some technical ability around the knockdowns rather than seeing punt after punt end at the likes of Asadi, Moghanlou or an out of sorts Taremi.

Felt bad for JB and Azmoun today. They tried their best again to drag us over the line, but the others didn’t show up for them today. Including GN.

It’s a bitter, bitter loss. The cycle repeats. The same failings arise. But I’ll always be grateful for this community of passionate Persian football fans. Thank you. For your insights, your support and love of Iranian football and for sharing this pain. For providing an outlet for these frustrations. We’ve seen it all before, the same failings arise and deep down we all suspected it would happen again. We were warning of it all week.

It’s the end of the road for a few players. I’m guessing Omid, Ramin, Hajsafi, Cheshmi, Ansarifard amongst others. The gamble of giving them their last dance didn’t pay off. Even though it’s painful to watch the same failings I thank them for their service. We now need to build again, unfortunately without having given some tournament experience to the young and talented. It hurts today, and will for a while but we will be back. Hopefully with a team of sports psychologists on the coaching staff.

Take care of yourselves and go easy on each other in the debates.

The referee nationality distraction really worried me from before the game. This showed our players are still emotional kids instead of mature professionals and showed our lack of focus on the opponent. Referee was excellent today.

The better team on the field was definitely Iran but we paid for our lack of defensive quality. We don't need another Queiroz to make us play a defensive boring style again, but we just lack a good center back, Kanaani and Shoja are not high-level, one is too slow and stiff, the other is error prone. Also Beiranvand says almost nothing to his defense.

If you don't understand how we went from stiffling Japan in one game to conceding 3 to Qatar, it's simple: nervous mentality as usual.
