Honestly Jahanbakhsh showed heart. He kept fighting for every Ball. He has Been critized alot but this tournament has changed my views on him completely. He is a Leader.

Im so sad. I cant take all these heartbreaks anymore

This allowed Qatar to dominate the midfield in the first half and would eventually be the main reason why Iran conceded two goals in the first half. In the second half, with Ebrahimi subbed out, TM managed to controll most of the game but those two goals would come back and hurt us in the end.

Ghoddos had a very poor first half but he was probably our best player in the second half. Jahanbaksh and Ezzatollahi were among our better players.

The referee did a good job, he was more than fair to us. No one should blame him for our own shortcomings.
Exactly. Just cause Omid did good vs Japan does not mean he should start today. I hate this coach paranoia of trying to keep things same from last game. He over complicated it. U don’t need 2 bulldogs like ez and Omid vs shitty Qatar

Welp. It's time to rebuild the team y'all. For those who remember the time period between 2010-2014, when we were happy we got a tie with Kuwait? We're going back to those old ages with these dinosaurs. I pray we will have another few breakout players and the quality of our league keeps improving. See you all in 2 months for WCQ.

lets not forget JB hit the post... Dont forget that Qataris saved two 100 % goals by the goal line. One of these should have been a goal for us... So in the end we are unlucky....

          This shit happens anyways...

For those of you who are still here,

This was definitely a disappointment for all of us who have invested so much emotions towards this football team and followed every game so closely.

Our hearts are broken, but it is not the end of the world!

We need to keep our heads high and look forward to the future. Remember, we have a much bigger problem on hand than football and that is the state of our country which is the main cause of why we are what we are today.

I don't want to get too much into what went wrong in the game and what could have been done better today. You all saw it! The only thing I want to say, is that today's performance was one of the worse (and there have been quite a number in the past) I have seen from Iran. The formation, player selection, strategy, tactics, mindset and awareness of our players, coaching, everything was totally wrong! We chocked at the moment that we needed to produce.

But there is nothing we can do at the moment. We are out!

Take a deep breath and come to terms with it.

I am going to take a long break from it all .... :-)

            Stay happy and healthy.

I don’t want to get political, but you know some of these players, are probably government sympathizers and they do what they are told..

              ... there's always one

Yeah, with a better coach this would have been recognized after 15-20 minutes and some adjustments/subs would have been made already instead of waiting until halftime.

Damet garm for this thread. Depressing but much needed...

Beiro: 4 absolutely horrendous today... No way Niazmand isn't better than him?? His distribution is awful and is so shaky for me

Shoja: 5 Got toyed around by the Qatari attack. Sad... He's 34 years old and should be cut from team melli tbh

Kanaani: 6.5 Some bad moments and some good... Better than Shoja but still a bit weak out there for a team melli centerback. Desperately missing Majid today...

Ramin: 5 Horrible positioning, poor defending, not great touches... This guy is turning 34 next month... Can we please inject some youth into this team please! Can maybe stay on team melli but not as starter...

Hajsafi: 5 A half to forget from him.. Slow, weak, poor touches.. Looked rusty after not playing in Japan match. Turning 34 in two weeks and needs to be cut from Team Melli

Ezatolahi: 7 Our best midfielder today. Needs another copy of him next to him...

Omid: 5.5 Slow and had a few bad passes.. Still better than Saman though. He's 36 and needs to be cut from team melli.

Saman: 4 Horrendous game from him. Every pass was a turnover and he was physically out muscled. Nourollahi was very missed today... Still it was a rare bad game from him.

ARJ: 6 average game from him. Had some good moments and also some bad... Def not at fault for how bad we played though

Taremi: 3 biggest choker in team melli history... Just disappointing

Azmoun: 7 Great goal and was not at fault for how poorly we played. Did the most while receiving subpar service

                  SUBS:

Mohebbi: 6.5 Injected some energy into the team. He's one for the future (huge LOL considering hes 25)

Milad: 6.5 Played better than Hajsafi. Was pacy and defended OK on the left. Saved a goal at the end which if we scored to tie the match he would've gone down as a hero

                  Asadi and Moghanlou: N/A

GN: 5 the jury is still out for him... Decent tournament but losing to Qatar in the semifinals has to hurt...

I don't know why, but this made me chuckle. Thanks for the brevity in an otherwise depressing morning.

So saddened, the road to championship was so paved for us. All powerhouses had been eliminated, we knew we had 2 teams before the championship that we had managed to beat 3-4 months ago, so the confidence was over the roof (main reason we lost the game “arrogance”)

Subbing in Moghanlou and Asadi, 2 super slow players in the stoppage time was a big mistake. We need playmakers and fast players like Gholizadeh and Torabi or even Ghaedi.

Anyway life goes on, we as Iranians are used to seeing the country losing in so many areas and levels, thanks to the pathetic IR.

I with certainty say Jordan will win it all. They're just too good

Take it easy folks, after all it's just a football, and part of it is losing

Nonsene. If the government forces players to lose games, then there is no reason for the players to play for TM.
We lose because we are not investing jack shit on our football. We cant rely on pure talent. Qatar has invested billions on infrastructure and staff to make sure their players get the best training, recovery, pre-match analysis so they can go with the game plan that will work best against x team, and post match analysis so they can continue to improve.

Demoralized after this defeat. Thinking of taking a long break from this team. So many let downs and disappointments over the years. Hard to keep following this team. Been following since 1998. 2002 team, 2006 team, 2010 team, 2014 team, 2018 team, 2022 team. All let downs with the exception of a few games in the WC amd qualifiers. Tough day, very tough day. Humbling. We just are not that good.

Torabi will go down as most underutilized player in TM history

I honestly thought we had a chance all they way until the last minute. I BELIEVED it. Usually I go into panic mode pretty quickly, but this time it felt like it was DESTINED. It was a SURREAL feeling hearing the final whistle blow, just could not believe it.
