I've been thinking about it, and our failure in this cup came in the UAE game. We played our entire starting squad and added mileage on their legs in a meaningless game. I know everyone was saying we should win, beat everyone in front of you! Well, our players are known to have stamina and fitness issues. Playing so many games back to back is what eventually caught up to them. GN was clenching his butt every game out of fear of losing his job, and he did just enough to get us to semifinals to steal a paycheck for another 2 years. If he wanted to win the whole thing, a proper coach would have rested starters against UAE, our B team probably could have gotten us a draw (and even a loss would have sent us to the easiest path of the tournament to the finals, and then you have a full game of rest for our starters to start fresh in the KO stage. Oh and we lost Sadegh for the rest of the tournament in this meaningless game to add insult to injury.

Instead, we gave our starters no break, they played 6 games back to back and gassed out. Again, this is called planning and not playing to keep your job. GN screwed us beyond belief, and any halfway respectable coach would have known to do this. We won the battle against UAE to lose the war in the long run. I guess that's what you can expect with a half-baked general.

don't worry he is installed till the 2026 world cup because he is a Hezbi he is ok. After the Japan game his comment was" Be haghe Aemmeh Va Ahle Beit ma bordim.. yani bazikona hichand va Aemeh tooye zamin bood. Ostade khayeh mali hastand in team melli ma. Like their Palestine loving or Beiro wanting to be back at 22 bahman and celebrate the IR revolution??? what the fcuk???? how much of a sell out can you even be????

These will never represent Iran correctly and play for their government no t the people because like the IR, they have no gheirat either. No gheyrat equals to no achievements and we see that our country is constantly going down because there is NO GHEYRAT anymore. Even our people are the same.

Dont try to shoot the messenger and get the message. That's what I have seen from Iranians. They rather that the problem disappears by itself and they don't do anything about it themselves.

Get rid of him. We don't have a bright future with GN at the helm, it will just be more of the same. I almost had a change of heart after the Japan game but honestly I must admit ke Jav Gir shodam 'cause it was a big win. Considering the talent in our roster and some of our key players having hit their prime plateau before starting their decline soon, getting to the Semis was at the very least expected of this team. Not to mention we were almost knocked out in the round of 16 in PKs, if we're gonna bring up "Luck" like GN did after the Qatar game.

Technical stuff aside - his attitude, professionalism, and mentality is outdated for today's football. Plain and simple.

A lot of people were waiting for GN to face his first REAL test and he did with Japan. Not only did we defeat them, but we thoroughly outplayed him.

If we want to be fair, then we should acknowledge that game was not a fluke. Also, it showed adaptibility on his end, since up to that point, we were trying to keep the ball on the ground, and build up from the back.

However, we resorted to the long ball approach which worked beautifully, since the Japanese players were physically smaller & weaker than us.

In the Qatar game, GN should’ve went back to the build up from the back approach, and maybe started players like Gholizadeh & Torabi. In spite of not doing that, we still created more than enough chances to win the game.

Unless we have a world class coach lined up, I don’t think it makes sense to fire him.

I don't mind him not being sacked right now. I want continuity.

However if we don't finish first in our current WCQ group, then we have to replace him immediately before the next round.

Webbie Jan, as members here have said GN is from a religious pro monarchy family. Saying religious things doesn’t mean he’s Hezzi.

I'm not sure what made some of us think we played well this tournament!!

We only defeated a bunch of much easier sides, were very very lucky to not draw vs Hong Kong.

Sure we defeated Japan but they were clearly in bad shape, struggling vs the likes of Iraq and Vietnam.... Obviously not the same Japan we know.

We lost to the only team we faced that's actually in good form and decently coached.

How did we play well or improve in any way? What evidence did you see of this?

The fact that we won ON PENALTIES....against the mighty SYRIA?? Really?

What because we beat Japan? They sucked and we bottled the next match vs Qatar, who's entire squad plays in 4TH TIER leagues in the MIDDLE EAST vs us who play in the Serie A, EPL, Eredivisie, Portugal + more in Europe

We did not do well this tournament. It was disappointing.

No that I know of. GN has spoken of meeting Hashemi Rafsanjani three times and speaks highly of him. His picture with Rafsanjani is easy to find online. GN also endorsed Khatami and Rohani. He is in the "reformist" camp. Rafsanjani was responsible for some of the murders/mass murders of the 1980s.

"Reformist" make me puke, they are bigger vatanforush than I.R hardliners.

2024 will be a interesting year, I think alot will happen politicaly and its also U.S election year that could change the world a bit, I.Rs future is no exeption either in that matter.
