Honestly, I am even ready to have Golmo as TM coach
I was discussing this with another great PFDC member. Golmo doesn't have the fight in him to get resources for TM.
Yahya is a good coach tactically, but he is emotional too and would ghahr whenever IFF can't fund something.
GN instead uses his own resources and applies his own pressure.
I cant believe people want GN to stay. His entire style has awlays been long balls from defence to a tall striker and hope for the best. It just happened to work vs Japan and people are being fooled. Sakhtare defai ke sefr. Its back to the days that no matter who Iran plays its not about if they concede but how many. There is also 0 player development with him. Carvalhal imo would be a good solution

I don't understand either, we lost 1 year with him with the same old and slow players for absolutely nothing.
He can thanks our backbone for saving us
This team was a decade in the making and the majority of players need to retire now and won’t be at the upcoming WC. I don’t think he is the coach to develop young players, meanwhile keeping us competitive and ensuring qualification
Now that I'm thinking more rationally, I for sure think he should go!
The Japan win has caused most of us to wear rose tinted glasses but otherwise the performance for arguably one of the most talented teams we've produced was quite bad.
-Defensively we were all over the place the whole tournament, constantly failed to handled the press
-Our attacking relied on individual greatness and there was no cohesiveness going forward
-Midfield was non existent
-Discipline issues both on field and off field (Taremi ego check)
-Lack of new blood
The only positives I can think of was our resilient and fight which is massively outweighed by the cons.
I would go for carvalhal. Hes available after leaving olympiacos.
If we cant get him keep GN, but he has to commit to big overhaul of the team.
GN had positives as well:
Japan win was tactically impressive and without multiple key players. First in 20 years and first at AC.
There was less drama and much more unity in the team. People can act like this is a minor things but just very recently we failed to have this in TM. See wilmots, Skocic, and even after return of CQ.
Trusting Saman and playing him in a new role. Gave him huge responsiblity and until yesterday it paid off. Other coaches didn't do that. For that I give GN great credit. People say no player development what about that. What about sticking with mohebbi who proved most of us wrong in the end?
Hes cheap and we dont have usual song and dance about him getting paid on time/not, is he aware of certain players or not, etc
Negatives:
Naive style of trying to outscore "lesser" opponents and not properly analyzing/prepping for their strengths/weaknesses. Almost wenger-style approach. Backfired badly in game vs qatar.
In game management and subs very questionable.
Handicapped himself with awful squad list. He realized this after and said immediately 50-60% of the team needs to be replaced which by my calculations is spot on.
Ultimately we lost narrowly in a semi final. We didnt play well at all, esp. in last 30 of first half, but had some shit luck as well. We got to semi with CQ and didn't even play a real team before getting there (oman, china lol...didnt even beat qatar in groups) and most of us considered that a success. Here we got to semi and dominated japan on the way to it as well.
There are issues with the mentality of most of our players that are symptoms of iranian culture, and no coach can change those unfortunately. CQ tried...iraq and japan matches happened.

The disgusting tactical plan against Qatar is reason alone to fire him, let alone his mafia bazi antics off the pitch
I put myself through the torture of watching the highlights again in the second half. Literally just cross and pray. I know that's become a meme but it's exactly what happened
Qatar wasn't Japan. They have physical gritty players and that approach wasn't going to work sustainability

We make that Japan so big. They didn't have mitoma, lost to iraq, they even struggle against Vietnam.
About the negative, you can add his awful defensive record, the start of losing again to teams like qatar, humiliated by HK, and he is tarsoo/emotional in his choices. The fact that he loves to criticize his players after the game doesn't help.
I reckon he made some good things (like using Ghoddos, which was obvious except for Skocic, CQ) and get some revival from controversial players (ghaedi, mohebi, jb). Just wait and see, it was just a once shot with these players
When you Think about it a coach it’s someone who takes a losing team and makes them a winning team …
think about it how we played against Hong Kong how we played against Syria how we played against UAE we never struggled against these teams how we played against Qatar we never struggled against these teams even at our weakest. We still beat these teams easily think about that.
you have coaches that take a losing team and make them a winning team and then you have coaches that take a winning team and make them a losing team
we have the European players we have the skill we have the technical ability we have the tradition. Why do we need a losing coach?

Who is the alternative? Would any credible foreign coach commit 4-8 years to help rebuild our football? Even Morais was ready to leave after half a season in PGPL

I'd love Carvalhal. If we go foreign he's the best option out there. The only issue... Is he the right guy to bring about a new generation of Iranian footballers and build a long term legacy?
His CV shows he doesn't really commit long term to any project. I think Braga was his longest stint, and even during that time you could here he always had a foot out of the door.
We need someone who is willing to give his to this team for the next 3 years at minimum and thinks long term.
Because of that, I think we should just a give Vatani coach some time.
