I think it has more to do with Pahlavi Iran giving IFF and football in our country in general a huge head start compared to the rest of Asia. But it's been 45 years and Asian teams have caught up and in some cases, surpassed us.

Ramin (will be 36 years old in WC2026) - We thank him for his contributions and that Wales game will always be legendary, but it's time to make Sadegh our RB moving forward and look for other backup options (Aria Youssefi).
Ehsan (will be 36 years old in WC2026) - He had an immense TM career, extremely long and successful. But if Milad keeps up this form, Milad should be our LB moving forward.
Omid (will be 37 years old in WC2026) - Looks like he already retired, at least he has some dignity.
Shoja (will be 37 years old in WC2026) - It pains me to say this as I was unsure about him because he had such a good tournament and seems like a leader, but 37 is too old to be a WC option. We have good young defenders if we actually use them (Hazbavi, Fallah, and Majid isn't too old).
Karim (will be 36 years old in WC2026) - We thank him for his years of contribution, but it's time to look at younger options up front. He should be an assistant coach (only if he can contain himself from running on the field in key moments).
Cheshmi (will be 33 years old in WC2026) - He will always be remembered for the Wales goal, but his style is outdated and is not a good fit for today's football.
Here are the young players who should be called up to transition to the new generation: Zahiroleslam, Eckert, Allahyar, Hosseinzadeh, Salmani, Hossein-Nejad, Hazbavi. We have a lot of good young talent, we just don't use them or give them any opportunities. It starts now.
All these should be invited to tm to be tried out
Goudarzi
Akbarpour
Haji Eydi
Jafarpour
Pourhamidi
Ranjbar
Rezaei
Ghorbani
Karimazar
Jeddi
Fardin Yousefi
Khodabandelou
Also need Aghasi at CB.

Because of impacts of sanctions and decades of mismanagement, the next generation of Iranian footballers will be more deprived, less talented and physically inferior.
I'm too inebriated to fully explain my point. But I do truly believe when I say we have witnessed the peak of Iranian international football.
We might produce some individual talents which surpass Daei and Taremi, but as a squad, we will probably never reach this level again. At least not in my life time.
If anything the kids now are much more spoiled and way less traumatized.
football is becoming super specialized though, so normal kids don’t go into is much. Instead you get super athletes who all look the same, but none will play like a prime Zidane, Ronaldinho, or Karimi.
also this is Iran. There is probably some kid in Sarbazi right now who is a hell of a player just waiting to be discovered.

Nonetheless, I am not an IPL expert and your list seems more thorough. The point is there is young talent there, we just choose not to use it.

(Andarz/Yousefi) - Hazbavi - Fallah - Goudarzi (WAYYYY better than Noorafkan sorry this kid has way more talent)
Gholi - Saeed - Ghoddos - Mohebi (Ghaedi)
Sardar - ?
I am iffy on Mehdi, he seems to always be red carded or play his worst of all time every time there is an international tournament. He is also gonna be 33, so I hope that we can find a replacement for him sooner than later. It will depend also how he does with inter milan. I hope that he can be part time off the bench but that we can use someone else with speed there.
Beiranvand...he can save a few penalties but looking at his form for us this tournament and at club level I am not comfortable with him anymore sorry. I will support him benched in favor of a younger goalkeeper. Modern era goalkeeper requires you to be good with your feet, and he is awful on his feet.

Iraq had a unity of purpose for 2007. If a foreign power ever invades our country, God forbid it ever happens, then it may help our players put their football into more context - but we are not in that situation.
Iraq's football became free at that point and the euphoria may have also carried them to some extent:

The situations are so different for me. All I can think of is that in 1980 our asian cup triple winners went from 10 years of invincible to losing to Kuwait, and the situation has continued since then. The prison is Islamic Republic and when we are free of that, the football will flourish - that's my opinion.

It's important to have realistic changes and goals in mind, in order to not get too disappointed afterwards:- Qualifying for the WC should be a no-brainer by now (given the 9 starting spots for Asia).
- Considering 12 groups of 4 teams, with even the 8 highest-ranked 3rd teams advancing to the round of 32, reaching the last 32 teams should be very achievable as well.
- Everything beyond that is as difficult as our so far not achieved goal of advancing to the last 16 teams. So it remains my personal (difficult, yet realistic) goal as a TM supporter. We were only one goal away during the last two World Cups.
In regards to the players:- I personally believe that our "golden" generation of Taremi (34 by then), Sardar (31), ARJ (32) and Saman (32) has a last chance to shine, especially if still in one of the top 6 European leagues until then, which gives a bit of piece of mind.
- We seem to be having high-potential young players in more defending roles. Getting Aria Youssefi, Saman Fallah and Amin Hazbavi TM-ready is an absolute priority! Unfortunately they didn't get the chance to play and show themselves in the AC - this could have brought one or the other to realistic leagues like Turkey, Greece, Belgium, etc.
- Saeid Ezatolahi will be 29, and if nothing surprising happens, he will remain our key DMF.
- Mohebi is definitely better off in Russia than in Iran or Qatar, but it would be even better if he can make a move to e.g. Portugal.
- Gholizadeh will still be TM material, in my opinion. It seems that he is a solid tournament player (see last WC and AC).
- Getting someone like Allahyar up and running is also very important.
- With all the love I have for Karim, Hajsafi, Shoja, Omid and maybe Ramin (he has the potential to remain fit and fast though for another 2.5 years), I think that it's time for them to retire from TM (Omid already has).
- Beiranvand just has to make less stupid and risky mistakes, which I hope more maturity will teach him. Other than that, I think he will still be our number 1, and he deserves playing his 3rd WC.
