I just checked, in the 2016 edition we won (after penalties or extratime) against Portugal, Brazil, Paraguay and Morocco, it is possible
Iran currently has 2nd most goals scored, 2nd best goal difference, 5th based on goals conceded in the highest ranked group. But actually all top teams ranked teams (Brazil, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Spain) have conceded less goals which might be a better predictor for success. I also have a feeling that the top teams overall do better on their rotations and regeneration of players, which might explain the narrow results sometimes.
The FIFA Futsal ranking turned out to be quite good - 14 out of 16 best ranked teams made it to the second round, except for Uzbekistan and New Zealand.
The two strongest knockout games will be actually ours (ranked 4th and 6th) and Portugal-KAZ (2 and 10).
I watched the first half of Tajikistan and after that free kick goal from Panama they lost momentum. Whatever team can hold Portugal and Morocco to narrow losses for sure has talent. It was 4-3 for Panama until Tajikistan started playing with open goalkeeper and then conceded 4 goals in like 3 minutes. In the Asian Cup they had draws against Japan, Thailand and Uzbekistan, pretty sure Panama is not better than those teams. Hope they come back with more experience.
Just watched the Iran-France game, looks like a disgrace from both sides, but the French goalie really is ridiculous.
