    So it's all good.

This is what you guys wanted: the team play very tight. No personal mistakes. New defenders play like old experienced TM pros. Your feathers are ruffled because of a few personal mistakes leading to HK scoring against the mighty Iran.

Meanwhile England, top 5 team in the world loses to Iceland on the eve of a major tournament.

GN is not a world class coach and will never be one, but he is doing somethings right and Still gets blamed for the player's shortcomings.

      That's 4 matches
      Uzbakistan 2-2
      Japan 2-1
      Qatar 2-3
so a draw vs uzbk will make his record

      1 win
      1 lost
      2 draw

from possible 12 pt he got 5pt = FIRED

A win will save his job.

used same metric on skocic to turn on him too
      2 match vs s.k
From 6 possible points he got 1=FIRED
Best matrix since the 0-10 hottness metric used for agha Kaanani bus scandal😅👍

Let's have a discussion based on the statistics real quick. So in 21 games since he's come back, we have:

        18 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws.
        We have 56 goals scored.
        18 goals conceded.

Let's take a deeper look however. Of those games, here's how it looks like when we filter out all the useless teams above the rank of 45 on FIFA (teams like Bulgaria and Kenya):

        Russia (35) - We tied 1-1
        Japan (18) - We won 2-1
Qatar (34) - We won 4-0 (CQ led Qatar)
        Qatar (34) - We lost 3-2

We have only faced 4 teams below the rank of 45

He has conceded 14 goals from teams ranked 60 and above.

You're falling into the trap of thinking that he's doing a good job but in reality every time we face actual OPPOSITION we're struggling. It's the same thing that happened with Skocic. Yeah his record was good but the three times he faced a decent team he flopped (SK twice and Algeria once).

Its like if I'm a boxer with record 45-0-0 but I only face children 🤣

There is no winning with you guys!

When Iran plays a closed game, lots of complaints that the coach is too afraid, too conservative, we don't like his style of play, get rid of CQ etc etc.

When Iran plays an offensive game, lots of complaints about conceding too many goals.

We are not Manchester City! We don't have the talent. Either we play tight in the back and not score much or we attack and concede.

Korea and Japan both have better players than we do and they also did not do any better than Iran in AC. It is absolutely ridiculous to separate our opponents into top 45 vs below. We have to beat who we face and we are doing that.

It would be wonderful if we had an opportunity to hire a world class international coach with a proven national team record but by reaching semis of AC and beating Japan and overwhelming winning record, GN is not giving IFF any excuses to fire him.

You guys are late to the chase. This guy should have been fired immediately after the final whistle versus Qatar. He is a loose-cannon narcissist. He failed that match. Firing him then would have given us ample time to select a new coach and prepare for the next round of WCQ

The guy had it in his contact that he should achieve AC semis. He did that. Fire him for what reason?

The problem with GN is the same as Skocic...results don't support a dismissal....but here's the difference:

GN is not a no name foreign coach that they can fire and never hear from again (Skocic, Viera, Branko, Ghotbi even). This guy speaks Persian and lives under their noses and will raise a stink every day. And other vatani coaches will complain too.

I disagree about talent. We're no Manchester City but we can ball, especially with the proper guidance and motivation.

Go watch how Columbia utterly destroyed USA 5-1 yesterday. They played defense nicely while keeping good attack tactically. Why is it that every time we watch this TM under GN everything is so chaotic? You cannot be watching these games under him and thinking wow what a spectacular performance...we always come out feeling like we suck even with the wins. The team always falls apart when we get pressed.

Korea and Japan also suffer from problems, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to fix ours too. Korea had Klinsmann...need I say more?? and Japan was clearly struggling all tournament because they took a major risk in playing a 19 year old keeper all tournament to give him major experience for their next generation.

People's criticism of CQ was that he went really defensively against every opponent...even when we faced Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan. He played park the bus until we fell behind then we had to open up from a disadvantage.

GN is doing the opposite, he's spamming attack, taking 5-6 strikers and only like 4 midfielders in his dysfunctional 4-4-2 where Taremi has to drop to CB to help with defense. Rewatch the second half of HK game, Taremi and Ghoddos had to drop to CB. This is GNs system, spam attack through the wings and try to score no matter what.

Why can't we have a balanced shape where attack is just as important as defense?

Regardless though I maintain he's unfit to lead tbh

Reaching finals should have been in his contract ! Our talent was enough IMO to reach semis

Our number one problem is the absence of talent at 18-35 age....and a good portion of that is because of poor development in the PGL.

We do not have players that can play the game at the top levels... physically, skillswise, tactically, and mentally.

Our stars are just not good enough to play in better leagues...and it is by no means a special bias towards Iranians.

Moghanlou...top scorer in the league couldn't hack average Portuguese team.
Alipour...top scorer in the league couldn't hack average Portuguese team.
Mehrdad Mohammad...Es Es star.... couldn't hack average Portuguese team
Beiranvand...our number one keeper couldn't hack average Belgian team
Niazmand our number 2 keeper couldn't hack average Portuguese team.
Mohebi, TM top prospect couldn't hack average Portuguese team.
Abedzadeh..was our number 2 keeper couldn't hack la Liga 2.

                    Then we have
Jahanbakhsh...TM starter at peak age is a perennial bench warmer
Azmoun...TM starter at peak of his career is a bench warmer
Sadegh...TM starter, 5th year in Croatia (not regular starter) and can't manage anything higher.
Hosseni....TM starter, on again off again in Turkish league
Karimi...TM player, on again off again in the Turkish league
Milad...TM starter...bench warmer in Greek league.

Yes we have exceptions like Taremi, HajiSafi, Azmoun in RL and...Karim who have been successful in their teams/leagues...but these are exceptions not the norm.

TM coach needs to pick the best of the country and he doesn't have great options. CQ was able to mold a mostly fit team that could hold off big teams despite our lack of stars...for a majority of the game...football is a team sport after all. Our lack of talent though is the reason why we didn't go into the second round of WC.... And can't make the Olympics.

Koroosh Jan I wholeheartedly agree with everything you say 👍

But I wanna make a difference here between talent/prospects and coaching. Yes we are at a player slump for the future no doubt and it's not looking good. But here's the thing it doesn't excuse GNs weird decisions and tactics.

                      Things like:
                      • Taking 6 strikers to AC and only 4 midfielders (two of them being Ebrahimi and Cheshmi).
                      • Randomly changing a whole new team shape vs Qatar and playing Taremi at LW to shoehorn him into a 4-2-3-1 instead of using our winger depth off the bench (we had Ghaedi/Torabi/Gholizadeh all fresh)
                      • Not subbing in any players in important games until minute 85-90 and when he does, it's usually Moghanlou or some nonsense sub. He's usually just trying to brute force a goal with these players instead of anything real.
We've seen these players compete in 3-4 World Cups now, we saw them under 3-4 different coaches. We know what they're capable of and what they're not. My issue is I've never seen a more dysfunctional team shape till now, even Skocic's defensive shape was much tighter. I mean, we've conceded 18 goals in 20 games, that's a concession almost every game.

I remember the last qualifier against Uzbekistan we played well in the 1st half. There were some nice passing sequences that was a joy to watch. Then when Ghoddos went down, the subs didn’t help, and we sucked.

Let’s see if GN has learned from that experience. If we lose to Uzbekistan I agree his job would rightly be in the hotseat.

This man is mocking us with his lack of knowledge and coaching skills.

BUT .. then again, who is going to replace him?
Even Osmar is leaving Iran. No good coach in right mind will take the job.

Let him stay out of having no other choice!
